countdown to Watchmen300 translates easy to cinema. Watchmen doesn’t. It’s way too talky. I bumume they’ll fix that by cutting out large chunks of plot and replacing them w/cleavage. (view post) |

Low/high flezz is an extremely relative concept. Look at today’s leaderboard:
http://www.forumwarz.com/leaderboard/flezz?page=1
134K is the highest, which makes 1K a pittance in context. It’s not that hard to rack up money after you’ve beat the game, which most people do in about a week. I didn’t even look at domination until this week, because I was still busy building my character/scrolling storyline.
I think anyone who is interested in doing so will find the flezz to “buy” antifreeze. (view post) |

countdown to WatchmenWhy? Because Hollywood hasn’t ****ed up enough Alan Moore books?
It looks good, I’ll admit. But I don’t read Alan Moore to be dazzled by visual effects, I read him for the stories. Which, when it comes to Watchmen and V are really children of the 80s, and come off as incredibly cheesy when taken out of their element. (Oh well, at least there’s no Natalie Portman… )
I think come next spring I’ll just hug my graphic novel and hide in a corner w/headphones on and pretend this movie doesn’t exist. (view post) |

If you play for a while, you’ll notice that they occasionally make large updates rather than frequently making small updates. I came back after not playing for year or so and there were twice as many quests just in the basic storyline. (view post) |

I finished Atlas ShruggedIt’s hard to understand The Anthem without knowing about Rand’s biography. I think this is where her bitterness comes through the most (her family, being middle-clbum got kicked out of the Soviet Union).
Lots of lulz if you don’t take it too seriously, tho… (view post) |

Why is the Troll basically the weakest clbum?Makes sense to me. In real life, trolls don’t take anything seriously and are willing to go to great lengths to antagonize people. Stay at it long enough, choose your words precisely, have a long-term plan, and even the coolest customers will crack. Hence low attack/high defense. (view post) |

Why is the Troll basically the weakest clbum?52, or even 26, sounds like an obscene defense…I have 3.
You just have to learn how to play each clbum. If I’m understanding it, Trolls have high defense/low offense, I guess you just hang in there and slowly but steadily pwn everything.
I find Camwhores can pwn threads very quickly, but I’ve had to learn when to heal, because it’s easy to run out of ego/sexiness, especially if I’m trying to deploy code. I haven’t been able to buy the best equipment because I’ve been spending so much on lipstick. (view post) |

I finished Atlas ShruggedCongratulations. You get a cookie. Log in to see images!
I tried to make it through Atlas Shrugged in high school, but got really bored somewhere around 200 pages in. I did have to read The Fountainhead in college. I actually enjoyed her prose style, it makes for good fiction, but her philosophy has more holes than an Indonesian brothel. (view post) |

DiscordianismBeasto: You didn’t answer my first question. You didn’t answer my second question. You didn’t answer my fifth question. And I see you didn’t READ AGAIN. You’re terrible at following directions. Congratulations, you’re on your way to becoming a Discordian. Hail Eris!
NO SRSLY,
Do you have a better philosophy/religion? What is your “grown-up book?” I’m not being sarcastic; I actually want to know. I think it’s important. Because I still insist that the PD is a satirical and light-hearted but accurate attack on the follies inherent in Western philosophy, and those follies are deadly serious. Because I take Malcalypse the Younger seriously, I am free to take Plato foolishly (or do you actually believe that behind what we witness as reality is a world of Perfect Forms?)
While altogether ridiculous, the PD lends itself quite easily to serious literary analysis/philosophical discussion. For example, look again at
What we have here is a pretty obvious spoof on the “proofs for the existence of God.” If you’ve had a basic philosophy course they should be very familiar. The folly, of course is obvious – people get caught up in rational cause/effect argument when they were trying to prove something essentially irrational.
The folly of atheism is to bumume that because you cannot prove rationally the existence of God/Goddess (or anything, for that matter), it cannot possibly be true. It is as dogmatic as theism, really.
The fact of the matter is that reality is not rational, and even if it were, we wouldn’t know about it, because we are not experiencing reality but our own personal reality-tunnel, which is influenced by cultural bias. The bumumption that the order we project on the universe is actually inherent is the Aneristic Illusion. Does is bother you to have a silly name for a serious thing? We could call it something else instead. How about, I dunno, Objectivism? Log in to see images!
Religions and philosophies that operate under the Eristic Illusion are important because they train our minds to deal with problems that cannot be addressed by Aristotlean logic (to bumume these problems simply don’t exist or aren’t important, as many atheists do, is the most ridiculous type nihilistic hubris I’ve ever heard). For instance, my five-year-old asked the other day:
“When we die, are we awake or asleep?”
(The correct answer, of course, is “Mu.” Without Discordianism, I would not have known this.) (view post) |

What exactly is the prevailing philosophy behind Chuck Norris jokes? What is the aesthetic statement? I must have missed it.
A piece of art doesn’t have to be serious to be meaningful. That’s precisely the point. If we stop taking the universe seriously, we get rid of hate and fear. There’s nothing in here that isn’t in Zen Buddhism or Taoism. The authors of Principia Discordia simply had the advantage of living after Western thinkers finally figured this stuff out…
So, yeah. You fail. Read again. (view post) |
