I can has Klan?Yeah, I didn’t plan on joining a clan with any lower-level users, since it takes only about half a week to get at least this far.
EDIT: There needs to be a way to sort the table on the Klans page.Log in to see images! (view post) |

A ForumWarz Parody is inevitable. So don't suggest it.I didn’t see any ForumWarz clone submissions last week, but this week I’ve seen near 20 of them.
I have to admit that I’d thought of the idea at some point last week but held off on submitting … then I saw this post.

Simple tips for better Forumbuildr submissionsSUCK MY NECROTIC male reproductive organ!
Just kidding.
Just wanted to add that the UNINTELLIGENCER will sometimes randomly capitalize things, so all-caps is going to be slightly redundant as well.
It’d be nice to have the option of specifying the chance if it being entered in all caps – 0%, 10%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%? Some posts wouldn’t be really fitting in all caps – like this one, FOR INSTANCE. (view post) |

The officialized UNINTELLIGENCER(tm) un-improvement thread!Escher Posted:
That is a good question. I hope there’s a variable somewhere that lets you adjust the stupefication min/maxes of a forum the same way the difficulty and XP per pwnage are adjusted.
There should probably be a large warning on the thread idea submission pages that tells users to make their posts as non-stupefied as possible because it’s automatic. But I doubt anyone will listen. (view post) |

How we plan to improve ForumBuildr!Any good ideas that die you could always use for Episode 2 (though I’m sure you’re well aware.)
I’ve always thought that in a voting system like this there are certain precautions you can add to avoid retards.
1. Give more weight to people who use both upvote and downvote frequently – someone who only downvotes should be effectively castrated from removing an idea, and someone who only upvotes should be taken a little more lightly.
2. Give more weight to the people whose votes agree with the general consensus. If this person appears to just be randomly upvoting/downvoting, nerf them. However, if the person had only been downvoting, but seems to downvote things that would drop off the chart anyway, or by the same token, almost only upvotes things that win, then this should override rule 1.
3. Give more weight to users who have contributed winning or high-scoring ideas. If the person is voting on thread titles and has submitted 12 winning ones already, chances are they know what makes a good thread title.
4. Give more weight to users who vote on a high percentage of the items. If a user just votes on 2 items every week, they’re not really helping the system much. Encourage more participation by crediting active users who don’t get swallowed by rule 1 or 2.
5. Give less weight to users who only vote up on specific users. If there’s a trend that user A ALWAYS (or almost always) votes up on user B’s submissions … pleh. This one’s obvious and you probably have something in place for it already.
It should be noted that by “more” and “less” I don’t mean HUGE values – these would have to start off low and be slowly tweaked to find a good working set.
Also, I think submissions for thread titles/posts should be required to have at least 1 randomized entry in it – or are there safeguards against the same thread ever showing up twice? I have no idea how the system works, but I usually frown on entries with no randomizers in them. (view post) |

The officialized forumbuildr 2.0 beta WORD TYPE suggestion thread! Is there a list somewhere so we can avoid duplicating? That is, a list somewhere other than in forumbuilder post/topic edits?
How about
@food_bakeddesert: “apple crisp”, “fruitcake”, “angelfood cake”, “lemon tart”, “blueberry muffin” -use: could add that level of bizzareness people go for when they concatenate it with things like yoga and sex positions, or could be used as a strange insult
@electronics_computer – a sort of subcategory of electronics, computer would randomly return the name of a computer.
One thing I’d like to see more than anything else is the ability to specify _male _female at the end of words that generate people’s names (physician, politician, celebrity, etc.) and the ability to link it to a pronoun such as he/she, his/hers, etc. Right now a lot of people just write “he” “she” or “their” and it looks really weird (though I suppose the internet is supposed to be weird – but I think most posters, no matter how stupid, would probably be able to get the gender of the person they are referencing correct). Then additionally, being able to link body_part or any other gender-specific word types to these would be awesome as well.
Having more specifiers for categories would be nice as well (e.g. @electronics_old, @electronics_new) similar to the way politician has _contemporary, _obscure, and _old.
Finally, the ability to change the tense of a verb or the plurality of objects would be much appreciated. It’s weird when you see someone do “@masturbateing” and you wind up with “bash the bishoping” or “wax the dolphining”.
Disclaimer: I know some of these are complicated to implement and the average user already @totally ****s up when trying to use the existing system, but hey, you asked for suggestions. (view post) |

How we plan to improve ForumBuildr!Jalapeno Bootyhole Posted:
What if those 5 users happen to be bumholes? I don’t think there’s really a happy medium for completely excluding an item.
What if every upvote while an item was in the negatives counted for twice as much or something like that. Then it would take 5 downvotes in a row and an extra 2 if the item was upvoted by someone else – or some other form of revival for dying ideas. Any idea that is genuinely bad WILL be killed eventually – even some of the 20+ voted logos were knocked off the list.
If players are being limited in how many ideas they can submit per day/week I think having bad ideas on the list will be less of a problem – and users should be able to have a fair chance at their ideas being seen. If all of your ideas are submitted and killed by a wave if re-re’s before they see the light of the general population, that’s not good.
Doh, double post with no delete bumon. FAIL!

How we plan to improve ForumBuildr! The Other Other Hole Posted: This is a pretty decent idea, but it wouldn’t stop them from downvoting everything else.
I think this halfway-reduction in klan-item vote differences would be a pretty fair rule to have in place.
Or perhaps every clan vote for an item would not be tallied in the chocolate scoop counter for the content author, and would result in a deduction of the flezz the person receives for winning. (view post) |

forumbuildr CSS colorschemesI think it would be great if you could build a CSS file with keywords in it that could be replaced for different color schemes. Often times one scheme has a great layout but horrible colors, and sometimes I want to provide multiple color options so people can choose between them.
The idea would be that when you submit a style, you can insert some text like ”<color1>” ”<color2>” or some other variable in your CSS code, and then define these variables either in a separate file or in some text boxes. Then you could name your style and colors.
Styles would act the way they currently do – upvoted or downvoted accordingly – and underneath the style and slightly indented would be the different color options for people to vote on.
New color schemes could be submitted if, for instance, the logo changes and the original color scheme doesn’t really work wit h the logo.
Example: STYLE 1 - Blue (78) - Tan (12) - Green (-3) STYLE 2 - Red (61) - Purple ( 3) - Vanilla (-4) STYLE 3
If style 3 got the most votes, it only has 1 color so it would win (no schemes). If style 1 got the most votes, whichvever one of its three color schemes has the most votes would be the official winner. If style 2 got the most votes, even though one of the color schemes in style 1 (Blue with 78) was voted higher, the highest voted color scheme in group 2 (Red with 61) would win.
I think users other than the scheme author could be allowed to submit a color scheme for a particular style. You could give players like 25 flezz for the winning color scheme and the remaining portion of the style flezz bonus would go to the layout designer. Of course, the author initially submitting the style should be allowed to add as many color schemes as he wants before the style goes live, so a user couldn’t jack away one of his intended style options. Perhaps a style should be limited to a certain amount of color schemes at any given moment as well.
Other suggestions for forumbuildr styles: Give players a small hexidecimal color picker to choose the colors they want. I’m annoyed by the various attempts at styles that are submitted where the player uses #hotpink or something as a color and then my browser can’t even display it so it looks like the default color scheme. (Or at the very least link them to a website like The VisiBone Webmaster’s Color Lab).
I think it would also be helpful to give more of the different table cells id and clbum names, as I am having to do some pretty funky stuff in CSS to modify them more independently of each other – I don’t know if this is intended, but since it’s doable in CSS I’m taking a shot at it.
PS – are you guys looking for any more team members/help? (view post) |

How we plan to improve ForumBuildr!Sounds good!
What about copycats?
I.e. people who won’t submit anything for the first few hours/days so they can rip off the current ideas? I think there’s a lot of people who downvote things off the list and resubmit the idea right now.
Also, you can steal and edit Logos and CSS pretty easily too. Any plans for protecting submitted work? (view post) |

Forumbuildr Voting-5 should make it stop showing up in the “give me random results” until you’ve rated everything else there is to rate.
Once you hit the -5’s and below, they should be sorted by current vote. You should be told when you’re in the so-called recycle bin of sorts. (view post) |

Forumbuildr VotingParadoxControl Posted:
The first 5-10 logos that were up there have been downvoted off. Someone submitted a base for the logo and someone else printscreen’d it and added a picture from another logo for it.
The only ones remaining are copycats of the originals.
Being first means you’re more likely to get your idea stolen and posted by someone else who wins all the Flezz. Being last means you can’t make up the difference in votes quick enough. Being somewhere in the middle means 6 random re-re’s downvote you to -5 and the logo is never seen by 99% of the voters.
I’m sure it worked great when there were less players, but as the population grows, the voting system becomes more and more inadequate.
Spider Jerusalem has 33 Chocolate Scoops (would have been 35 except Ceggon punked him) in two days.Yes, it’s too easy to get chocolate scoops. I’ve gotten more than 40 and I traded half of them in for cards, one of which let me switch my chocolate scoops for antifreeze, and the others let me steal or add scoops to the other flavors. Forumbuildr VotingI upvote everything I like and downvote everything I don’t like. Isn’t that how it’s supposed to work?
