I realize I can hide them but most of the images embedded on the site are hilarious and why should I have to miss them just because some bumhole wants to post (insert your favorite shock picture name here) in a thread about kittens?

Simply redefine the “shock posting” rules, now that we have our comm bans, to limit ANYTHING which could be identified by a reasonable person as “offensive” to being linked to rather than embedded. That way there are no surprises for people. And by “reasonable” I mean p much any level-headed person, probably someone who doesn’t play this game at all; you guys can use your judgment to determine what a reasonable person might say. Or you could take the above a step further and just declare no more NSFW content is to be embedded anywhere, or else comm bans will be issued. It’d make the mods’ jobs easier, it’d make the boards less disgusting, and p much everyone knows what’s SFW and NSFW so there’d be very little arguing about it from the players. Personally I don’t think it’s necessary, but if it’s a choice between a goatse free-for-all (actually goatse no longer frightens me but I’m using its name because everyone and their mother knows what it is) and a kid-safe forum, I’d choose the clean one. Because I still want to be able to view the funny pics people post on the forums 80% of the time. As I stated somewhere else previously, if I want to see shock pics I know where to go to see them, and the same goes for porn, so I don’t really need to see it here.

If my mom saw goatse she would die. That would just be the end, the breaking point where the world just became too much.

You’re missing my point Log in to see images!

My point is, when we were banning for shock, people argued that some of the bans (bummilk, or pierced male reproductive organes, or whatever in particular) WASN’T shock. So we set about trying to define it in a way which could be utilized for consistent banning. And we failed miserably, because the line on shock is different for every person. So another solution had to be found.

if you’re posting shock you know it’s shock.

but then people push the limits and sneak in gross stuff and then six months later we’ll have this whole thing over again, provided people haven’t up and left the entire site.

allowing shock is a terrible solution but it’s the only reasonable one. that or “don’t embed any images ever, lest risking a ban”

But what I’m seeing in this thread (or was it another one?) is that the majority of the people DON’T want to see shock pics embedded wherever someone feels like placing them. They made that rule AFTER they got all the new mods.

I would love to go back to no embedded shock, or maybe make it so it has to say NSFW or SHOCK in the thread title before you can embed it there, otherwise clearly label a link. That way the people just *have* to post it have places to do so, and others don’t have to see it randomly right in the middle of an otherwise good thread. Is there anyone out there that actually LIKES reading an RP thread and then all of a sudden seeing the pain series on their screen?

I understand you can disable images, but as Fingerz said I don’t want to miss out on all of the other funny images people post.

Since the split, RP has seriously just become a free-for-all that really isn’t pleasant to spend very much time in.

I forgot, who was it that said they weren’t easily offended? Oh yeah, everyone complaining about shock pics. This game is about being about the internet, and the internet has shock pics on it. Some people are happy to have them allowed, some are not, the decision was made to allow them on half of flamebate and not the other, you know how to avoid them if you’re extra sensitive.

Shock is posted in a thread where shock deserves to be posted. If I put a goatse in your thread, then I don’t think much of your thread. Also, a dead cat isn’t shock. It’s like the whole Log in to see images! debacle, where for some reason people considered this stupid pixel drawing shock, and the mods forwarded it to ET and he couldn’t even figure out why they did. Blood in an image isn’t automatically shock. To some people, a picture of a spider or a man standing at the edge of a cliff will jar them just as much. If you say you can’t put a dead cat in a cat picture thread, then you’re basically banning trolling altogether.

Just for the record, he couldn’t see why they forwarded it because he literally couldn’t see why they forwarded it. He’s colorblind, and was unable to see the blood.
