On November 17, 2009, we changed the value of Brownie Points.

When we did this, we multiplied everyone’s balances by the same amount so that everything is fair and nobody’s money was lost.

We did this for a few reasons:

• We wanted to be able to fine-tune our prices and the previous amounts weren’t flexible enough. For example: we wanted to make some products cheaper than 1 Brownie Point, but we couldn’t without making them free.
• At some point in the future, we want it to be possible to earn Brownie Points by completing in-game tasks, and we wanted smaller increments to reward players more frequently.
• We want players to be able to run contests in Flamebate with more winners without having to waste a ton of money.

If you are running a contest for BP values, please edit your posts to adjust the prices accordingly. You should make it an even swap with the new conversion rate (15:1).

We’ve also adjusted some of our prices for products. The majority of the prices have gone downwards, but most things are more or less the same.

Would still recommend opening the economy and allowing people to sell BPs for flezz (along with moving flezz freely.) People think it would skew things, but really I’ve watched the system work beautifully on KoL for years now.

Just so I can understand, the reason you’ve made these such HUGE amounts, is because you plan to start giving players a way to earn BP without donating, right?

The first one was intentional, but the second was a mistake. I’ve changed it to be 180 now.

This is something we’re considering. We’re not sure yet how we want BP to be obtainable in-game, but a large Flezz conversion might work.

For now the goal was to allow us to give them out in smaller increments. We wanted to do this before pre-orders for E3 so that people would have some time to get used to it.

Just to repeat myself from the podcast thread – I suggest being able to put BPs on Kyoubai. As long as BPs cannot be bought from the house (you guys) but only from other players, it should only help the demand for buying them for cash, by having more of them used. I’m also going to suggest again having in-game items that can be bought for BP.
