Because Flezz has more value to me at the moment, both in attempting to acquire the Flezz E-Peen, as well as have enough on hand to be competitive if a new unique (or limited edition) item surfaces on Kyoubai.

Umm, that is pretty crappy logic. All aspects of the game are open to everyone. Players choose whether or not to compete in different areas. No one has to sacrifice playing Dom in order to play INCIT. No one is required to choose between Forumbuildr and gaining consecutive peens.

Really, I wasn’t going to comment on this. It was brought up in klan and I am aware that anything I say will likely sound whiny. I agree with everything the Pro wrote. I also agree that it is a bit frustrating to a regular player to discover that playing everyday is both not enough and apparently bad planning.

I love the idea of something like this. I think mini missions are neat, just really cool when they happen. However, CZ recently announced very proudly that they had crossed the 130k user mark. 25 out of 130,000 is steep. Considering that the alternate prize for completing the quest is pretty much just collectible?

My experience was: log in, see new quest, awesome! Run through the quest. Heh heh heh. Go to Flamebate to check the chatter on it. Discover that the epically awesome quest prize was extremely limited and had already been grabbed before I even logged on. Feel disappointed. Realize that even if I had shown up earlier, due to actually using my visits I wouldn’t have been able to participate on the character I consider to be my main.

Does the peen vs participation doc lessen the content, of course not. Could the general release of the content been done in a way that would have left people feeling less annoyed, yup.

Also, while surprise is cool, some real notification in a game that is self limiting via the 4 per day visit structure wouldn’t be a bad thing.

Comparatively – when World of Warcraft released its latest expansion they released several “be the first to _____” awards. Obviously very exclusive, but they did let players know weeks in advance that they were on deck. This allowed the players who cared to compete for those things to plan ahead or at least be on line when the things hit.

To me the twitter blurb, “We’re going to be launching a special new quest shortly for those who have finished episode 2.” gave no indication of anything. I’ve seen “coming soon” on this site mean 2 hours and I’ve see it mean 3 months. It’s been a pretty flexible thing.

I’m not mentioning these things because I think they should go back and change them, just perhaps consider them in the future? I think people are aware at this point that they might need to have flezz on hand for some sudden quest ala the starving_2_death scenario. Check, we need to have some flezz if we want to participate in cool bonus stuff. Visits? Without notice that really forces a hard choice between actively job boarding or playing Dom and sitting around waiting for potential bonus content. Log in to see images!

So, scully, what if the only award for this quest had been the Donor Receipt?

In other words, if the Plaques had never been available, at all, and the only reward was the Donor Receipt which sells for  54,000 in the Ppwn Shoppe, how would you feel about this quest?

The cost (if you’re grinding the top end forums) is around 300k  in job rewards and deliveries, for a 50k  prize, plus two weeks of dom participation if that’s your thing. So basically you’re paying a 250k +potential dom medals+peen, to access some new content. Not worth it IMO.

And for those players in the mid-tier, that recently completed Ep. 2 and haven’t yet started grinding the top forums, this is a pretty nice offer.

The idea that every special thing should be available to everyone is contradictory. If it’s available to everyone, all the time, then it’s not special.

Some people get to brag about how they were here on Day One.

Some people get to brag about how they beat Great Firewall before Episode 2 launched.

Now some people get to brag about how they were one of the 25 lucky ones to beat the new quest when it launched. And those that missed it have at least FIVE chances to own the E-Peen.

In fact, special promotions that have limited access time are great ways to encourage new players to sign up and keep visiting the site. And this event sure has caused a lot of discussion amongst the players.

I’d say it’s done it’s job quite well.

And as far as ruining your Dom streak, how many super serious Dom players would have broken their streak, especially when they’re striving for the top Medal spots in this Season’s Dom, just to get a different E-Peen? Considering that it’s a transferable E-Peen, and you could always wait until after the Season was over to offer an insane amount of Flezz to a current holder, there is no way you can say that this E-Peen is unattainable after the first 25 people earned it.

I’m selling mine today, and for the right amount of Flezz, I’m pretty sure at least half of the other people would too. I’m probably selling it too cheaply as well, but E-Peen isn’t as important to me to have to hoard this one.

As I said, I sincerely hesitated to make a comment. I stepped back from the uber aggressive peen whoring part of the game mid-winter. I stepped back from Dom earlier than that. It’s really not such a rabid “god I must have the peen” thing. If I was going to go all rabid about a peen I would have been jumping up and down on my soap box ages ago lobbying for a Longest E-Peen peen.

I already said I enjoyed the content, that I loved having a min quest. I would always rather have more content.

I’m aware that you were one of the lucky 25ish and that’s cool, congrats. I have nothing against people getting the peen. I do not feel that I’m super special and deserving. My only criticism had to do with not having a reasonable opportunity to compete.

Hell, I had 0 visits when the quest was released. I still couldn’t do it on my main if I wanted to. I’m lucky, I have alts so I could see the content. I’ve gone through the sTalk on all my alts, but not completed the quest on most since I’m in the middle of pistachio loops. I hope that accepting the mission is enough to ensure the content isn’t going to simply go away before I can finish it.

You are an auction nut. If you logged on and discovered that there was a mini plot that involved using the auction house with a cool reward, but you could only have access if you hadn’t auctioned anything in the last two days how would that sit with you? Little bit annoying, right?

Like I said, cool mini plot. Made me laugh and weirdly miss FalconFour. I don’t think that there should be any sort of back pedaling to reopen or change awards. I do and will continue to think that advance notice and a little broader scope wouldn’t be a bad thing in the future.

IIRC, Princess Undies actually Ppwned her Plaque before realizing that there was an E-Peen bumociated with it. Now that sucks. I’d sign a petition to suggest that CZ give her a ‘refund’ from the Ppwn Shoppe so that she can decide (with full info now) what she really wants to do with it. She’s currently out both the E-Peen and the Kyoubai sale price.

That’s a bummer for her, but I don’t think it should be recompensed. When the mission was complete the newsfeed clearly said “your epeen has been lengthened” and the text clearly states that there’s an item attached to it: “This owner of this E-Peen™ currently possesses a Falcon Preservation Donor Plaque.”

See, that’s why it should have been made a “Special item” instead of “Junk”.

It doesn’t need to actually give any stats, it just needs to not be an auto-sell thing. The same thing goes for the receipt. (Of course, if equipable items NEED to have stats, then make the receipt and the plaque the same.)

It’s not too late to fix it. I’ve seen the admin interface, and it would take you all of thirty seconds to do.

The lesser reward is junk, the bigger reward a statless equipable.

Is there any reason to not sell the lesser reward at ppwn? I hate the prospect of not being able to use the “sell all junk” bumon with impunity from here on out.

Put it on Kyoubai with a 1 billion reserve, don’t take the attachment out of TM when it returns and you can keep the item without having to mind it every time you sell your junk.

Edit: It would be nice if the Receipt got the same status as the Plaque (Special Item) so it’s not sold accidentally. Also sort of related I just bought myself the cheapest Plaque so farLog in to see images!
