This suggestion actually appears to be reasonable. The disadvantages of an open Log in to see images! flezz transactions from taking place anyway.
Another example: I regularly use my low-level characters for taking Denture Chat in klan raids. One of the .moar files on Denture is RectumScan – my level 12 Permanoob had it twice and I also have it on other characters (and I’m sure the same applies to many other Denture-based characters). I just sold one of them (on mentioned Permanoob) for over one million flezz… should be sufficient to get me some top-level equipment. Log in to see images! Anonymous auctions wouldn’t have any effect on this. The Seller can simply copy & paste the link to the auction in question. (Many of us use this to creat links to our Auctions in the public threads.) Two Buyers can both bid on the item. One person puts in a max bid of 3,900,000, the second puts in a max bid of 4,000,000. And the total price on the item is suddenly 3.9 Million +. And as soon as 12 hours later, the transaction is complete.
That’s if you have to use a low price item to move a lot of flezz. If you used a high price item, that has a higher allowed Buy It Now, then you could move as much 4.5 Million within one hour.
Even if the screennames are anonymous, this type of collaboration is still possible.
So, anyone screaming about how the auctions should be anonymous, think again. That’s not a solution to the problem. |

The following characters have had their Flezz balances reset to 0:
– Ricket – Chewie – Manju – Momo
Additionally, all bids on the Unique E-Peen™ have been removed following Johnny Mac’s last active bid of 6,316,482.
Yes, it’s drastic. But frankly you should have known better. |

When can we expect a set of guidelines in regards to appropriate Kyoubai-related conduct? |

When can we expect a set of guidelines in regards to appropriate Kyoubai-related conduct?
...and why are actions being taken upon guidelines that aren’t stated. Players are supposed to inherently know what’s on the developer’s minds without any form of FAQ or any rules at all stated for even days after the release of the system? The system itself wasn’t even designed to stop or hinder these actions, so it wasn’t even like anything was cirgreat timesvented to make this happen. |

Do we really need to teach common sense to people?
Kyoubai rules are not up yet, but I don’t think we need much to think transferring 12m flezz to a single player is clearly not intended. |

It’s not an exploit or a bug. That was the way the system was designed to work and there was no indication you weren’t supposed to bid whatever amount you felt like bidding.

This isn’t the first time this has come up, but I’ve always thought that “It’s not explicitly stated” is a lame excuse.
You don’t have to have things specifically said to you to know they are wrong. For example, I’ve never explicitly said “I will ban a user if the DDOS the site”, but that’s exactly what I’d do.
Or I’ve never said “I will ban someone who tries to reset my pbumword” but I’ve done that too.
I’ve never punished someone for an accident, or for doing something that they thought meant well but failed. In this case, people co-ordinated with each other to transfer huge amounts of Flezz. Repeatedly. Then they used that money to outbid genuine players on the new special auctions.
Do you really think that while they were doing that, it never occurred to them that what they were doing was wrong? Of course it did.
I’m talking about using basic common sense here. If something seems wrong, it probably is. If you’re not sure, ask a mod or admin before doing it.

Will this be fixed by crippling auctions, or what…. |

How is playing within the mechanics of the game cheating? While it may be spoiling it for everyone and taking the fun out of the game, it’s not really cheating. Other klans had equal, if not greater, opportunity to do what we did – I personally was hoping that others would follow suit and getting high priced items would become more of an inter-klan competition. We certainly aren’t the largest klan, so it’s not like we would have any disproportionate chance of winning.
On a side note, I think a good way to balance things would be adding inter-player flezz transfer and/or klan flezz storage, with time-based transfer/withdrawal limits, possibly also level proportionate. That would enable competition while keeping things reasonably structured. |

Wouldn’t trying to limit Kyoubai just cause more chaos? |

I guess my code of ethics is different than everybody else’s. I don’t see these actions as “wrong,” personally. It didn’t hurt anybody, and nothing was occurring that anyone else couldn’t have done. The actions themselves didn’t even require any special knowledge to do, so it’s not like it was a buffer overflow or anything.
Perhaps the system should not have been released prior to completion and without proper testing JBlade edited this message on 01/19/2009 2:19PM |

Just allow flezz transfer possible and make doing this w/ auctions bannable… |
