Having said that, I’m not convinced it really works for games, or at least it hasn’t so far.

It’s been a mixed bag for games.

Each of the ID engines (And the game-specific code for the quake game that it shipped with) has been open-sourced at some point after the next engine has been released, and we’ve seen some very interesting things result from that.

More importantly, partially open source is where a few major game companies turn a tidy profit.

Valve has it’s SDKs and quite a bit of engine code freely available, and more than a few people have bought Half-Life or Half-Life 2 just so that they could play a mod.

Quake was where Team Fortress originally started, and although ID’s current engines aren’t gathering much interest they used to have the most active mod community of all time. That Doom mods are STILL the most common kind of mod available on the internet is a testament to just how big it was.

And etc…

However, there are some key differences between ID and CZ. Suffice it to say that open-sourcing FWZ would pretty damn likely lead to CZ having serious problems in very short order.

I’m an advocate of open source, but this isn’t a situation where it works.

Incongruities in the courtroom scene

I recently created an alt, and have gotten it through Ep1. In the court scene, I noticed a few errors:

In ‘spoken’ text it would identify me properly, but otherwise it had errors.

The name it gave me before I became “Tuscon Lepht” was “UltimateGamer386”

The name that appeared on the sTalk log was “PixelSith64”

Also, I went through intentionally NOT doing quite a few things:

I never even talked to Yuriko-Chan, yet she testified I was a huge pervert.

I didn’t bother shooting R. Kelly in the male reproductive organ, yet he testified I did.

I didn’t bother talking to the walnut, yet it testified I did – as well as the male reproductive organshot.

I can understand that the last three would require a more versatile courtroom script, but the name but is actually kinda significant. Also, does the name bug count as a typo? Log in to see images! (view post)

People who sell the Haxploitation epeen should be banned imo

Give Tubs back his ePeen, he deserves it.

I think the system should work like this: A person ****s around and find an exploit. They test this exploit to make sure, and get something out of it (An ePeen, for instance).

The person then reports the exploit, and points to what they’ve done as proof that the exploit is real.

Because they reported it after confirming that it works, they should be allowed to keep the ill-gotten reward – within reason. In this case that means the ePeen but not all the flezz.

If after using an exploit they don’t report both the exploit and what they did with it, then they get permab&. If they spread the exploit around before it’s fixed, they also get B&.

This provides strong encouragement to both find exploits AND report them, while at the same time strongly discouraging people from abusing exploits.

That said, yea, give Tubs his ePeen back.

Idea for Cool Forum

If you INSIST on a leaderboard, then fine:

A “reigning champion” leaderboard where it lists the best runs over the past week. Topping this grants a peen.

A “Hall of fame” for the best runs of all time. Topping this gives you squat.

This prevents the kind of **** that the “Most forums pwned” leaderboard suffers from, and makes it so that people only need to worry about CURRENT opposition instead of impossible to break records.

Kyoubai ought to win. Affirmative Auction is a ****ty pun that doesn’t make any sense in the first place, and makes even LESS than no sense to people who don’t know about one of America’s minor 40-year-old policy disputes – such as everybody who DOESN’T live in North America.

Also, I propose that BidSquid have a TOTALLY NOT LOLI chibi Japanese schoolgirl as a ‘sidekick’, who he is constantly ‘hugging’ with at least two tentacles.

You CAN’T really spade some of the ePeens, though. There are plenty of unique ones that were given out LONG before the new length system, and there will always be ambiguity with those as a result.

There should either be NO leaderboard, or it should drop-out runs that are more than a week old.

I don’t care about planning things out since I can easily do that in my head. I just want a less inconvenient way to tell the game where my UPs go.
