New upgrades system: Techtree?Yea, that’s about what I was thinking. (view post) |

New upgrades system: Techtree?I think we all agree that the upgrades system needs an overhaul, if for no other reason than because it takes so damn long to click on things and they keep jumping around so we click the wrong ****.
So, if there’s going to be a redesign, why not make it something that’s actually aesthetically pleasing?
The idea is pretty simple:
Display the remaining upgrade points in a prominent location
The stats go off to one side. Each stat has it’s current value listed, a text box for entering how many points to add, the standard +/- bumons for people who can’t be bumed to use a damn keyboard, what the stat in question would then be (For Eco/Secondary, at least), and the cost of the upgrade. A simple vertical column, nothing too special or interesting.
For the abilities, those go into a starburst pattern that takes-up the bulk of the layout. Ability chains radiate outward from the center, with every ability accessible to your level visible as an icon. Mousing over each icon shows the ability’s information. Any ability you have is shown in full color and has a blue aura. Any ability you don’t have is greyscaled, contrast-reduced, and blurred a bit. Abilities that you can’t get at the moment (Not enough UP, for example) get a red aura. Abilities that you don’t have, but cost 0UP (Starter packs) have a green aura. Abilities that are beyond your level are not shown.
Clicking on any unpurchased ability results in the upgrade system buying abilities along that chain until it either runs out of UP or reaches the chosen ability. Clicking on a purchased ability results in the upgrade system selling that ability and every ability beyond it.
At the bottom of the layout are two bumons: “Reset” and “Submit”. Reset clears all the changes, “Submit” makes them permanent. You still need Haxl to do any resetting.
Aside from being more visually appealing, this would allow for more flexibility in the future. For example, what if ET decided to add some more-complicated ability chains? Perhaps adding a new ability chain that depended on two or more other abilities? Or branching ability chains?
As always, feedback is welcome. (view post) |

Vuron's Balance SuggestionsHandle healing+charisma like damage+offense. You do 7.66% more damage for every point of offense you have, and giving 7.66% more healing per point of charisma works out ok.
NSFW does 140-160 healing. bumuming a Cha of 50 and a bonus rate of 7.66%/cha, that would work-out to 676-773 restored ego per use. Since you can only use it every 3 rounds instead of every round like 5-HTP, that’s not *too* unbalanced. Considering that Cosplay Central one-shot me with a 565-damage attack before my latest respec, it seems like a decent enough way to do things.
Also, as far as hackers go I’d say increase the damage on their long-refresh attacks, and drop it down on their short-refresh attacks. That way they can heal and recharge their PP without having to sacrifice damage-dealing rounds. (view post) |

I'm glad we got a harder forum but its still not challenging.CaptainDDL Posted:
... and THIS is why it’s misguided to try to balance each clbum’s damage output. Unbreakable defense plus ‘average, just like everybody else’ offense = unstoppable pwning machine. (view post) |

Fix HackersHA! You think that Hackers are the only ones having problems speedrunning?
The problem is that everybody is graded on the same curve no matter what clbum they’re actually in. Camwhores will always have the advantage in low-to-mid range forums because they have two strong attacks to alternate between, but in stronger forums things get a bit dicey and the advantage tends to go to trolls. Splitting the times on a per-clbum basis would level things out for everybody, and ET has said that he’s very much interested in the idea. (view post) |

Something's missing...Actually, here:
A buff-whore clbum. It has a tech tree devoted entirely to offense-boosting, another to general aids, and a normal attack chain.
The offense boosts have low cooldowns and stack, even with themselves. However, they mostly work ‘for the next attack’ instead of ‘for N rounds’. For the sake of being a male reproductive organ, one ability should buff based on the RL time between it being used and the next attack with no meaningful cap, but block buffs and healing for several rounds afterwards.
Thee general aids should allow for things like healing over time, ‘vampiric’ healing by dealing damage, threads taking damage for attacks they manages to land, etc…
The attacks themselves should be fairly decent, lower damage, but lower secondary cost as well. However, they should have a few attacks that have very high damage at a very high cost.
The clbum would not be too great for speedrunning, but if ET ever splits the times to per-clbum then it wouldn’t really matter. (view post) |

Something's missing...We already have a pedophile clbum here. It’s called “troll”, amirite?
Also, rather than suggesting new themes for clbum, why not suggest play mechanics? Fanboy and Furry have been suggested for months, but while people have been leaping at the chance to suggest them AGAIN, nobody has bothered to come up with styles to make them unique.
Trolls are a high defense clbum intended to win through attrition – nigh unstoppable, but with lower damage.
Emokids are a berserker clbum – weaker all around, but become significantly more powerful the more of a beating they take.
Camwhores are a glbum cannon – they can do lots of damage quickly, but need to pop pills like the fist of northstar to stay alive and can’t do so without losing damage.
Hackers are a methodical clbum – they have an attack cycle, and do their damage in powerful hits that occur over the course of that cycle while using the remaining rounds to heal and regenerate their PP.
Re-res and permanoobs are challenge clbumes, and so are irrelevant.
So does anybody actually have a play mechanic for these new clbumes that are being suggested, or do you just think that you can just pick a name and let the magical content fairies take it from there? (view post) |

Fix HackersI think that ET shouldn’t bother responding until there are some NON-****TY hackers complaining. The people who have ****ed so far just have NFI how to play their clbum, and balancing things to make the n00bs happy just leads to things getting really ****ty. (view post) |

"Sailor Moon V * Dark Adventures", The longest fanfic ever. That’s also the second shortest chapter, beating chapter two by one page. From there, it just goes up. (view post) |

"Sailor Moon V * Dark Adventures", The longest fanfic ever.As a direct result of OCD, boredom, a sudden bout of masochism, and the desire to make an bum out of myself, I read this fanfic. You might think “Oh, it’s a fanfic. Of course it’s long, those ****ers never stop writing.”, but you would be dangerously underestimating how long this thing actually is. King Krimson bemoaned how “My Immortal” never ****ing ends, but the 44 published chapters of that weigh in at only 124,772B. ( http://myimmortalrehost.webs.com/index.htm ) Putting things in perspective, “War and Peace” weighs in at 3,285,165B. ( http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/2600 ) That makes “War and Peace” 26.33 times longer than “My Immortal”. While I’ll concede that the ****ty writing of “My Immortal” makes it seem like it never ends, it’s actually pretty damn short. I mean, if you use the standard metric of a page of text being 2KB, then “My Immortal” is only about 61 pages long while War and Peace is 1,605 pages long.
“Sailor Moon V * Dark Adventures”, however, is 9,347,688B ( http://www.sailormoonv.net/da.htm ). That makes it 2.85 times longer than “War and Peace”, and 74.92 times longer than “My Immortal”, and works out to being 4,565 pages long. The fact that it’s still being written just means that even if you finish what’s there, you’re still not done.
Amazingly it’s also one of the best-written fanfics I’ve ever seen, so I didn’t get the suffering I had come to expect from a Sailor Moon fanfic. That just depresses me.
So, does anybody else wish to say what personal mountains/mountains of **** they climbed just because it’s there? (view post) |

Sup Tubsweetie. You got any experience with CRTs? Anyone else for that matter. You can try to change the vertical and horizontal to make it less horribly zoomed in, but I doubt that’ll actually do much. I suspect, for no reason at all, that the electron gun is too weak. It’s emitted electrons are less energetic than they should be, and so their trajectories are bent more by the magnetic fields and they don’t excite the phosphor as much. Also, the phosphor has probably been burned away from abuse. It doesn’t really matter, since there’s nothing you can do to fix it at this point anyway.
Are you running a computer recycling center or something? (view post) |
