Save My DragonApparently hatchlings can get sick as well, since it happened to mine. According to this thread: http://forums.dragcave.net/index.php?showtopic=3931 , there are two kinds causes of sickness/soft shell:
1) Clicks > Unique Views. 2) Too many views in too short of time.
The way to fix the second kind? As strange as it sounds, stop spamming your dragon. Put it in a fog for a few days, and everything should be fine. If you feel compelled to spam dragons, get new ones, like I did: Log in to see images!
Edit: 2000 (roughly half unique) views in 12 hours is apparently too many, I don’t know any other numbers. (view post) |

Save My DragonWhat causes a soft shell anyway? Is there something comparable that happens to hatchlings?

dragcave.net helpThe math on this is really sort of confusing I had this one grow up last night: Log in to see images!
It currently has 1454 views, 630 unique, and 17 clicks. However these two: Log in to see images! Just hatched this morning and they’re both at roughly 1283 views, 648 unique, and 14 clicks. So “time remaining” must matter quite a bit.
Also, I want this one to hatch, so I’m posting it: Log in to see images! (view post) |

ATTENTION DRAGON POSTERSOh, great font of wisdom, how am I to tell whether a thread is great or ****ty? Is it not conceivable that I would find ****ty a thread that you would find great, or vice versa?
How then to resolve such a conundrum?
Also, is this thread ****ty enough that it will be soon full of dragons? (view post) |

Official mod love threadI don’t really know if I endorse bum-kissing, but in my time here I’ve never seen a mod do something that made me think less of him/her/it/them, considering that modding is a fairly thankless job, that’s about as high praise as you can get.
From the impression that I get, these forums seem like they would be truly awful to moderate (since flamebate is basically set up to be an awkward pairing of a real community and a community that exists to be ruined), and things seem to be running pretty smoothly. So, good job moderation team! (view post) |

Anyone with BP?If you are actually about to have a mental breakdown, stop playing games on the internet and seek professional help. If you are not actually about to have a mental breakdown, please be aware that “exaggerated self-peril as a means to solicit handouts on the internet” is not a particularly good way to get anything. I mean, if stuff like this actually worked, would you honestly want to be on the internet.
You have no dire burning need to play episode 2. If you can’t give CZ real money, you will just have to be patient. (view post) |

Ban Dragons From The ForumsDesdiPhoenix Posted:
At the risk of sucgreat timesbing to tremendous irony, I think that in non-RP forums they ought to ban threads requesting that something or someone get banned. If you seriously think that something is sufficiently deleterious to merit banning from these forums (which have notoriously low standards as is), you should take it up with a moderator or Evil Trout. Starting a thread about your pet peeve in the forums and hoping a groundswell of support causes the powers that be to sucgreat timesb to your whims is a) ineffective, b) spammy, and c) probably trolling.
Also, this is total junior high stuff, but people ought to keep in mind is that “because you get ****ed off about dragons on the forums” is the reason that people post them. They do it almost exclusively to get a rise out of certain posters, and to that extent posting dragons is trolling and trolling is explicitly allowed (and encouraged) in RP forums. If we banned dragons, what would keep us from banning other, perfectly wholesome, forms of trolling? (view post) |

Replace "Ability disabled for X more turns" with a pop-over instead of a Javascript promptIf we’re going to talk about things to make speed running slightly less of a pain in the bum, could we make the clock stop after you’ve finished pwning the last thread, and not when you successfully click the “leave forum” bumon after you pwn the last thread? That’s the only part of the whole endeavor I need to use a mouse to do, and it always involves a few seconds of clumsily grabbing for the mouse and trying to click a bumon. I’ve failed speed jobs for this reason alone, and it makes me sad.
Or is “clumsily fumbling for the mouse at the end when you can do everything else with the keyboard” part of the skillset you need? (view post) |

suggestion to split the active topics into "non-roleplaying" and "roleplaying" tabsI would be in favor of splitting the active topics, and even making a clear break between “RP” and “Non-RP” forums, like put them in different sub-tabs in the Flamebate section. I like to read the serious boards, but I could really care less about the RP boards. “Not-having-to-see-them” would be something I’d appreciate. (view post) |

The clbum descriptions on the wiki...Big Brother Posted:
I think people may have missed the point you were trying to make to the point where you probably ought to make a new thread about it.
My best effort to get the thread back on its intended course:
“Hey, remember back when the Wiki articles for the clbumes were written? Back then, all those clbumes had a unique identity, complete with unique advantages/disadvantages and they all played differently? Wasn’t that cool? Things might have been unbalanced, but at the very least there was a significant degree of clbum differentiation. The recent rebalances have made it so that all clbumes basically do the same amount of damage, and though clbum balance is a good thing to have, I think that we have done this at the expense of clbum uniqueness. I mean, once upon a time Trolls were the high defense low offense clbum, and now that they do as much damage as everybody else they’re a tad overpowered. Is it really a balance problem if the clbum with the very best defense does less damage than less defensively oriented clbumes? Likewise, sure Hackers do as much damage as anybody else with their best attacks, but with the refresh rates and scarcity of secondary stat compared to the best attacks of other clbumes, is it really a problem if Hacker attacks do more damage than other clbumes attacks, considering that other clbumes get to use their big attacks about three times more often? I mean, these may be relatively minor complaints since once you get to level 35 with good gear “actually pwning forums” is secondary to a lot of things, but I think the game would be more fun if clbumes were more… well… different; like they used to be.”
That’s along the lines of what you were trying to get across, right? (view post) |

The clbum descriptions on the wiki...MC Banhammer Posted:
I don’t think “Recent nerfs have made this clbum unfun/unfair/etc.” is really the sort of thing we want on the wiki. It’s really something that’s more appropriate for a discussion forum.
Even if it’s true, I don’t think “Trolls are far and away the best clbum” is something that belongs on the wiki. (view post) |
