Imposible to beat forum | |||||||

This.
Changes were put in play to force players, who complained about 121212 because they only used their top-level attacks, to use other, often neglected abilities.
I am still failing to see the problem.
But whatever. ET will listen to the feedback, hopefully not just from the most vocal players but ALL feedback, and make adjustments in a few weeks, as he’s already stated.

So you’re saying my 15 Attack Move, should be used instead of my 200 attack move because it has a slight move edge? Thats great, but if narcissism is useless against a forum, Im stuck using level 7 attacks.
Im not ungrateful that these improvements were made, but it does’nt cure anything by making 1 and 2 useless. We need more top level attacks, more ones that have more diverse attributes.
Duh. |

Voice of reason right here… I guess I’ll get used to the idea once I know which forums have the most irritating special effects. Not sure it’ll be any more fun, but … well, the jokes make themselves at that point. |

I think resistance is percentage based, because in one forum my Hamster Parade did 40% less damage, but the difference in points wasn’t as dramatic for Bash/Drool which have the same elemental type. |

lol I’ll probably just Game Dolphin through ep 3 Making it take 10x longer to beat a forum isn’t “adding strategy.” |

And talking about a few select, non-storyline forums isn’t representative of the whole game either.
Also I love how even though I already said we’d be tweaking changes to make sure it’s fun, you just bumumed it will stay this way forever.
Allow me to re-iterate: stage 1) collect feedback stage 2) identify sore spots stage 3) fix sore spots stage 4) jump to stage 1

I would if I would you, add more moves. You re-vamped the game into one that needs a lot more strategy, now we just need new moves to stragize with. Its like being given a whole new battlefield, but the same amount of men. In my case topless women… |

I was thinking about this too.
So far, the enemy has been given a lot of new and interesting attacks, and we’ve been given defensive equipment which breaks easily to address them.
The next logical step is for US to get a lot of new and interesting attacks, and have the enemy need to defend against THEM from time to time.
Things like “Sign up an illegal account” which distracts moderators and allows you to pwn two threads at once.
Or “DOS Attack” which makes the site more susceptible across the board, or attack you at a penalty.
Or “switch persona” which lets you play as a different clbum for a given forum, and some penalty (I’m thinking permanent removal of one upgrade point each time).
That sort of thing. |

Hell yes to all of that. I knew we had to be on the same page, my page that is. My page is always right.
I agree with everything but the last one, would ruin the reasons for new alts. Any clbum can have a move for any type, even camwhores can have the repulsive one with an attack like scat porn. ****es eating chocolate and soft serve would be images. |

Like forums can resist, or be weaker against our attacks, perhaps we could have certain forums that we take 25% more or less damage from, depending on clbum. Though, if it’s a storyline forum, perhaps it’s best that this mechanic doesn’t get thrown in. |

I have little to complain since these changes were brought into just yesterday amd well whenever there are mbumive updates there is always going to be issues, that said as of this moment pwnings can be very tedious but hey whatever cz will fine tune it over the next few weeks. |

It’s been suggested before during the tuneup but there could be attack consumables, or as you said some way to change vulnerabilities. You could advertise the Forum which would heal and/or increase strength because of new users, but those users are weak against other attacks (since you chose another Forum from which you know their weakness) And thus you can more easily create a bumhurt chain and shut down the Forum. Then Mods could “cast” bans or site rules to switch them back.
That might be a bit more strategic given that the bonus you get for Changing a sites vulnerability by 15% may not be worth threads getting a bonus 15% health/attack/defense boost. |

The problem is you can’t fit the attacks nicely into categories after the fact the attacks are already made up. If they wanted to do this right, they would have redesigned all the attacks, but obviously that would be too much work. |

OH GOD THIS IS THE BEST THING IVE SEEN TODAY. Well… im not sure about the last one, i dont exactly follow. Like, you pay an upgrade point to switch persona for one forum once? Either way… seems a bit too powerful. But those others… sound great. |

I was thinking about attack consumables, but since the game is moving in a Pokemon-like direction I’m going to stand against that. What would be called a consumable would be more appropriate as a regular attack. Consumables to raise stats like roids would be a better use of funds in my view, or having attacks that make an immune forum susceptible to certain attack types for a limited time.
Another thing I’d like to suggest at would be a variable chance of there being status effects or moderator effects, especially in a short time frame. If we can say there’s a 10% chance of a mod appearing in a certain turn, that chance should increase with each turn the mod doesn’t appear. From 10% to 15% to 20% to 25% etc…then resets when the mod appears.
During my attack of DolphinLove (which I only bumaulted with about 10 special roids) moderators would appear every off turn for a short period of time, and undo almost all damage I had done to the thread. Combined with two lag spikes in three non-consecutive attack turns, pwning the forum wasn’t really an issue of me not doing enough damage (despite the fact my Incompetence attacks were very weak against it) but being held back by the status changes, all which happened in a short period of time and very frequently. mterek edited this message on 09/11/2009 10:01PM |

Permanently losing an upgrade point seems a bit steep; you could only use that one so many times before you’ve nerfed yourself into uselessness. Lose a few points out of offence/defence until the end of the forum maybe.
On principle I think the effects of a battle should end when the battle does… or at least be recoverable after the event. With that in mind, you could have “lose an upgrade point” as a cost, but only if there was a way to earn it back later. |

Co-op play on a thread would be so cool. It would allow for more interesting clbum specialties too.
Within a single-player game, having a player choose a clbum, only to find out much later on he cannot defeat an enemy simply because he picked that clbum, that is a gameplay flaw. Log in to see images! |
