Were you not shocked the first time you saw it? Just because YOU have become inured to it, doesn’t mean someone else, seeing it for the first (or 2nd or nth) time is also desensitized.

I don’t ban for goatse when I feel that if someone who has never before seen goatse sees the image, they would not be shocked, because they couldn’t guess what was being shown. When I see something questionable (or it’s reported), I run it by ET and let him have the say.

Couldn’t there be another warning on the rp forums that tells people there may be shock images in the threads, and then not ban for shock?

I just don’t understand your motivation here. At first, I thought you were striving for a more fair and balanced moderation and overall experience. But if you’re effectively picketing FWZ, and actively disencouraging people to do business with them, then the very fact that you aren’t perma-banned speaks volumes about their tolerance.

1. I really don’t understand why someone that doesn’t play a game would choose to hang out in that game’s forum. For example, I don’t play KoL, and therefore, I don’t go to the forums there. My guess is that you’ve been here long enough when you were playing the game to make some friends and such.

2. I agree the rules are less than crystal clear, but if that’s how CZ chooses to run it, then you really either have to live with it, or move on. Like I said, I fully support your argument that that particular picture, posted in a non-RP forum, was definitely trolling, and I’m curious as to why it wasn’t interpreted as such by any Mods.

So, that’s my question to you, McBan. Why wasn’t that picture, in a non-RP forum, deemed to be trolling? Or is it still ‘under review’?

Honestly? Because I couldn’t tell what picture was. I spent a long time looking at it, and decided it was a photoshop of a levitating man.

In any case, I am now leaving the treatment of that picture to JB, along with the other accusations about that thread. Hopefully he’ll respond.

Personally I think there’s a difference between “shock” and “offensive”. Just because I think something’s offensive doesn’t mean I’m going to recoil away from it in shock. By my understanding, offensive is permitted (in RP forums) but shock is not, anywhere.

I had never heard of shock sites before joining this site. My definition has come from what I’ve learned from googling potential shock and asking ET his opinion. :shrug:

I was the one who made the call on the shock image.

As it’s been pointed out, a lot of images are in a grey area. I think almost everyone would agree that goatse is a shock image and needs to be linked for “mind safeness.”

When Mc Banhammer showed me the saddam one my gut feeling was like, this is a shock image. Mainly because you could see his nasty balls hanging and the saddam thing was popping in and out. In retrospect it wasn’t worth the long ban so I removed it from Nicco.

Sometimes we make calls that are too lenient, other times we make them that are too restrictive. It’s just a temp ban, generally and can be appealed quickly.

If you’re not sure if an image is shock or suspect it is, ask a mod first for approval.

As for the lynching picture, I banned DLB for it just now.

I for one am totally down with goatse and meatspin while surprise gay porn makes me cringe.

I say no, some things are worse than goatse but goatse let it pbum. I do think we need to get rid of store threads in kyoubai.
