Is that the deal? If so, I’m almost never available to get scoops around then :/ |

Yes, the time is fixed although there is some hope that there might be alternate end times in the future, so more players have the chance to be there during end time. Log in to see images! |

Fux
Yes, I imagine this discriminates against a certain percentage of players. |

A timezone-recognisant dispersion for Domination groups might be a solution, though that might also entail discussion toward timezone-reliant forum visit resets, which could throw the site’s play ‘system’ for a loop. |

Well, CZ team lives in Toronto (that’s Canada), and forums/medals have to be updated manually afaik, so I believe they’ve put on a time it’s better for them. Too bad that benefits American players better.
Maybe if you specified from which country you’re from (or detect which country you’re from by IP detection when you win your first scoop for the week, to prevent exploiting) and make brackets for the Euro players?

Fran Posted: Actually, my understanding is that at this point, it’s an automatic process which doesn’t need to be monitored.

You can always find Evil Trout on IDC when Domination/Buildr week ends, so I think it’s manual. |

Only reason I say it is one of the theme weeks was kicking in or leaving (you can see my memory’s hazy) when he was going to be in Vegas for the week, and when I asked about possible glitches, he had told me that it was automated and wouldn’t be an issue. But if no one asks him before me, I’ll check with him in a couple hours. Then we’ll know. |

Possible solutions:
* Cycles run on a 6 day, 23 hour clock. Pro: an end time convenient for everyone eventually comes around. Con: most benefits people with no life.
* Random end times that are at a prime hour for majority users.
* Divisions based on time zone that’ll roughly distribute the community (mentioned above I believe).
* Make being available near the end time less significant, such as limiting the number of cards that can be played in a day.
I like the last one for sure, coupled with one of the above. What do you guys think? I definitely don’t like the same end time every week. |

A weekend evening in Europe, afternoon in the US? Downside – discriminates against Europeans with a social life. meeeeeeeeee edited this message on 09/08/2008 6:43PM |

What about a fixed cycle which moves the time back by either 6 or 8 hours each week (with the reset forced back to Wednesday when it cycles into Tuesday)?

Rounds ending at 2am – 6pm – 10am (8 hour cycle) for me, or 2am – 8pm – 2pm – 8am (6 hour cycle.) I’d only realistically be able to participate 1 out of 3 or 4 weeks.
Again players with no life would participate 3 or 4 x as much, effectively giving us a fait accompli before the season starts. Also 3 weeks of no action is long enough to lose a player for good, unless you’ve got other goals to keep them focussed. |

Also 3 weeks of no action is long enough to lose a player for good, unless you’ve got other goals to keep them focussed.Excluding a certain portion of gamers altogether is worse, which you’d agree with if the current end-time setting didn’t benefit you.
Thinking about it, MC Banhammer’s suggestion could work. It’s certainly better than the current setting. There could be two different “evening” end-times to cater to Euros and North Americans, opposed to 6-8 hour rotations (I’m presuming there aren’t many Asian or Aussie gamers here). Any regular time change rotation + daily card cap will do. |
