Operation: Wife BeaterI’m not sure hackers can actually pwn forums without putting points in offense and equipping offense boosting equipment. All of their decent equips are offense heavy. The best you can get with four hardware slots without boosting offense is +24 defense, as opposed to the +60 offense and +60 defense most high level hackers are using. (view post) |

You should try playing as a Hacker, then you get the benefits of pressing 2, 1, 3, 1, 4, 1, 2, 1, 3, 1, 4…. ad infinitum. It makes for a good change of pace. (view post) |

Game balance changesWould it be unbalancing to make it so people didn’t get a full heal after pwning a forum? It seems like it would make emos much more effective, since they can run around with low ego and it would mbumively increase consumption of consumables for high level folks who don’t currently use them, thus sinking a bunch of flezz. Taking things from peopleIt would be peachy keen, however, if the “take all” bumon could appear both at the top of the list and at the bottom. Sometimes I like to scroll down in order to see what all I got, and then have to scroll back up to get my swag. Minor concern, but it would be a nice addition. (view post) |

Pay to play = teh suckzVuron Posted:
Actually, it doesn’t. I know of several very competitive players, and some of the richest players in the game who have, as a point of pride, the fact that they’ve never donated. This is possible because KoL has a functioning, and somewhat vibrant, player economy. So any donation content can be obtained by a certain amount of in-game effort. This is the reason why any suggestions of an optional “donation model” for advantages of limited time availability that don’t eliminate you from competitive play would be a terrible idea for this game, since people who weren’t there at the time simply would never be able to get their hands on whatever it is. If anybody suggests making whatever little edges people would donate for not have limited time availability, does anybody honestly think that Jick would make half as much money as he does if there wasn’t a new little thing every month? Not only does it work from a “buy now, quantities are limited” point of view, but it also coaxes people to buy more than they need to resell later, which simply isn’t possible here.
What works for KoL works for KoL, but that doesn’t mean it would work here. I don’t play this game because I want a second KoL, and I was more than happy to pay for Episode 2 before I even finished Episode One. The production values here are high enough that asking $10 for the level of content in the game is far from unreasonable. If the OP is really unhappy about being “forced” to pay for episode two, I’m sure CZ would be more than happy to refund the full price of episode one to that player. (view post) |

Theoretically, if someone owned every single E-Peen, what would be their length?Possibly make it an account option whether to display “total number of ePeens” or “ePeen length” (or maybe even both) next to people’s names in their accounts?
I think could potentially make everyone happy. (view post) |

No word can describe my frustration now that my 55 hard earned Venus de Milos have become half pricedVuron Posted:
I agree entirely. There is an essential problem with lifetime leaderboards that a new player will never be able to challenge for; since they will never be able to challenge for those boards they just won’t pay attention to them. Because people don’t pay attention to those boards, they don’t care about them or really respect them. As the game ages, more and more of game’s demographics will be made up of people who were newbies when those boards were entirely unavailable to them and more and more of the oldbies who are or were in position to challenge for those boards will get bored and wander off/become inactive.
I have to say though, that if a functioning player economy is implemented, whereby people can buy and sell BP, moar files, and pieces of .moar files, the Flezz leaderboard could become relevant to players who aren’t already close. Simply because a new player could show up, make a donation for some BP, sell them for mad flezz, and play the market on .moar files (or whatever) and eventually become filthy stinking rich.
As it stands, though, the Flezz leaderboard probably doesn’t mean that much except to people who are on it, are close to it, or are easily impressed. (view post) |

So, cred from Geronimo drop dramatically?Wylin Posted:
Wait, are we talking cred or flezz? All of the recent changes I’ve seen relate to the amount of flezz you get from daily deliveries (a cap on junk items per unique forums, junk items sell for less, etc.) and not the actual amount of cred you get from pwning forums. Was that changed too? (view post) |

Did the Flezz economy just get raped overnight?was Posted:
A game where scarcity is an issue (i.e. you don’t have enough currency to purchase everything you could possibly want every time you’re made aware of it) is a better game.
I personally don’t believe that it’s possible to make a “web RPG” challenging, short of putting in content that’s designed for levels above the current cap, because any other challenge be made trivial by simply “grinding more.” I think trying to make this game challenging is a lost cause, ultimately the goal should be to make it entertaining. Did the Flezz economy just get raped overnight?was Posted:
What does that have to do with anything?
The problem is that the rate of flezz going into the game far exceeds the rate of flezz going out. To combat this we can lessen the amount of flezz going into the game, but that’s not going to ultimately solve the problem unless we increase the amount of flezz going out.
In order to increase the amount of flezz going out of the game, we need flezz sinks. Stores are flezz sinks, repairs are flezz sinks, Gamblebot is a flezz sink, but what we have now is not sufficient to combat the ever increasing amount of currency in the game. Ergo, we need more flezz sinks.
For the record, if you’re not going to respond to something, you would probably be best off, well, not responding to it. (view post) |

Did the Flezz economy just get raped overnight?was Posted:
A flezz sink is not necessarily a one time thing, it’s anything that gets currency out of the game. It could be something that happens once, it could be something that happens every day.
Suppose ET does the following: a bot is set up that accepts donations of any amount of flezz. Every day at rollover, an ePeen is awarded to the player or players (if a tie) who donated the most flezz that day.
Sure, people would stop giving away flezz to that source after they get that ePeen, but it’s going to take a long time for everybody who wants it to win that one. By the time that stops sinking much in the way of flezz, Evil Trout will have come up with other sinks. (view post) |

Did the Flezz economy just get raped overnight?UnlimitedANC Posted:
While I don’t think that creating BP through any means other than donations are a good idea, necessarily, I think that the game would be well served by the creation of some sort of player economy. If there was a secure way to exchange your flezz for somebody else’s BP, and the game took a certain cut of the exchange as taxes, that would be a good way to sink some flezz.
Say, I spend 2 million flezz on your 3 BP to make an alt, and the game taxes 5%, that’s 100,000 flezz out of the game. Similar sorts of taxation could be added onto transactions involving .moar files, when the system to buy and sell .moar files gets implemented, which may well sink a LOT of flezz. (view post) |

Did the Flezz economy just get raped overnight?Evil Trout Posted:
Could this be addressed by giving us more things to spend Flezz on at some point? Once you buy all your gear, it just sort of piles up. I spend maybe 16k on repairs and that’s still less than the current Venus price. Decreasing the flow of flezz into the game is all well and good, but it doesn’t seem to solve the problem of there being very little flow out. Some sort of flezz sink, with bumociated Peen or some other non-monetary reward would go a long way, and would probably make make people happier than continually ramping back deliveries. Pro hackers - Ideal proc power?I was actually an idiot and sold the +8 book when I got it, since I didn’t have the bookstore open yet so I couldn’t equip it. Pro hackers - Ideal proc power?BaconSupreme Posted:
What the heck else am I supposed to spend all this Flezz on? “Not having to adjust your hardware for rollover” is a minor benefit, but a benefit nonetheless; and after you buy Beast0r Cables, the finger implant, and the best hacker book, you have essentially nothing else useful to spend flezz on. So rather than “let the flezz pile up earlier” why not get the last useful thing, and let the flezz start piling up a little bit later.
Personally, I don’t devote any hardware spots to proc power. I use the finger implant, the hacker book, and I’ve been fiddling around with my .moars to see what works best, some of which give proc. power.
For the record, my stats are Offense 104 Defense 81 Luck 57, and I have 160 Proc Power. Nothing really gives me trouble (view post) |
