I recommend waterproof eyeliner with non-waterproof mascara. This will allow you to keep the dark eyes while swimming, but still cry black tears.

You might also try some eyedrops made with atropa belladonna. It will dilate your pupils so that people can see into your soul and recognize the depth of your feeling. Unfortunately, it does interfere quite a bit with your near vision, so you probably won’t be able to read or post in these forums for a while. I’m sure it’s a sacrifice you’re willing to make.
