Yeah, I’m talking about hackers.

Some files drop more often at low luck, some drop more at high luck.

i.e. increasing luck shifts the proportion of drops away from low-luck files and towards high-luck files. Mostly that corresponds with good files and bad files, so high luck gets you better drops, but not always (case in point: Pink Floyds drop best with low luck on Hall of Faded Fame)

Hackers have an advantage as .moar grinders, in having 4 equipment slots and a choice of hardware items that have either high luck, or similar stats but no luck. Means it’s really easy to quickly switch from high luck to low luck and back again.

The way I’m going about it is to pwn each forum with a range of luck values, keeping tabs on what’s dropped from each place.

If there’s a specific file I want to narrow in on, because it’s been found to be good or just looks interesting then I have a fairly easy way set up (macro’d bumons on a spreadsheet) to record drop percentages at a range of luck values, figure out whether it’s best to have high, low or middling luck.

Ah, well. That explains that then.

I still maintain that being able to change up your luck value at the drop of a hat is an advantage, but I am wondering what counts as “high” luck now that there are bigger luck bonuses available from files… might be a whole layer of good moars that we haven’t seen yet because we don’t have the lower level ones that give mbum amounts of luck.

Or not, either way is cool I guess.
