I dunno if it’s the same in vista, or it really has to do anything with the problem, but I’d personally remove a few things from starting up and running the entire time my pc is on in the background. On my XP it’s start>run>msconfig then the startup tab.

But, I’ll let 1337xxxlolololxxx1337 cover that end, I still want to know about the ping and tracert results when it’s in it’s browser-fail situation.

Well, I turned off my wireless and started using the broadband internet to see if that makes a difference, and I’ve been good so far, so we’ll see how long it lasts.

It might be my wireless card or something; I’d tried only using my broadband, but I never bothered turning the wireless switch off.

I doubt that “SmileboxTray” or “Askbar” are helping you more than they are hurting, but we are working on bigger problems than that.

LOL You’re on a wireless connection and think its software problems unlikely son

let us know if its not fixed by the direct connect

Eeeh I dont see anything virusy really, but u sure run a lot of stupid crap

Wylin already todl you what to do about that, though – do msconfig and decide what you want your comp to be running DONT mess w/ the first tabs just the last startup one!!!

-Do not run 2 antispywares at the same time, I leave spybot on all the time and dont have the second runnign its just there for an emergency (I use malwarebytes instead of ad-aware)

-you still have zone alarm processes runnign, so thats somethin to kill still if wireless thing doesn’t work

-lol why do you have askbar

You could tell hjt to fix these:

R0 – HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,Searchbumistant =

R0 – HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =

e: haha ya, smilebox too, but theyre not malware, just stupid

I know it’s not just connection problems with my wireless because internet-related things like MSN messenger still work fine even after browsers stop.

Cleanboot the machine.

START > RUN > MSCONFIG

Startup tab.

Disable All.

Services tab.

HIT THE BOX AT THE BOTTOM THAT SAYS “HIDE ALL MICROSOFT SERVICES”

Disable All.

Restart.

If you don’t have the problem after that, you can narrow the issue to an installed program.

Since the issue is cross browser, I feel it’s likely your security software anyway.

/Tech support for a living.

After the clean boot, report back here, and I’ll give you the next step.

I waited til my browsers crashed, then did it, copied it all by hand into Word, saved it, restarted, and posted.

I hope he’s posting after he reboots, and what I was thinking wasn’t the sitution. I thought for some reason his security software was all of a sudden stopping him from resolving the IP addresses from the hostnames via the DNS Host. If your computer can’t change “www.forumwarz.com” into “174.132.198.250” you’re gonna be ****ed with any browser. I also thought this because things like msn messanger would just be using IP’s and not hostnames.

Do what aristorolf said right now Shii. It will quite possibly make the problem not happen, and after a few hours you can pick a few things to turn back on.

No dude, I waited until they crashed. They I ran the diagnostics he wanted me too, saved them in a Word file, rebooted so I could access my internet again, and posted them.

I have to go to bed soon though, should I go ahead and do Aristrofl’s thing now?

I think that’s what we got him to do already. Right, Shii? You waited for th web browser problem to happen, then did the ping thing? Then rebooted and told us the results when you could?

If you did exactly that, turn everything in the msconfig off and reboot asap, it will save us waiting for it to lock up again when we din’t change anything.

sure “dude” lol

I’m guessing it’ll just work fine now. You’re probably not protected at all though. After you see that it works, I think you might have an easier time turning them all back on, then turning them off one or two at a time until you find whichever was the cause.

Yeh, I’m pretty vulnerable. Suffice to say I won’t be clicking any links, lol.

I dunno though; this whole affair is so above me. I might just go ahead and do a re-format rather than turn one off, wait for my browsers to crash, turn it back on, turn another off, etc.
