Personally, I think all of those images are equally acceptable. If we allow one of them, we should allow any of them. But more to the point, if I start spamming the picture of the ostrich 50 times, that’s nonconstructive spam and really shouldn’t be allowed. That’s not to say I shouldn’t be allowed to post the ostrich (it’s a very attractive ostrich), but saying that there’s some validity to posting that ostrich 50 times since I can post it once? That’s absolutely asinine.

Limiting the number of images is really the only solution (for RP.) There’s really nothing wrong with dragons, done in moderation. Nor is there anything wrong with gay porn, done in moderation. The problem is “lack of moderation.”

I’ve been playing by the rules the entire time, but now if I want to continue my Storefront the way I have been, it’s a hell of a lot more work involved, both for me to relist sold items and for potential customers to find the items the want. Five images maximum per post severely limits my options. Why should my options be reduced by 75% simply because someone in an RP forum posts a bunch of spam images?

The solution should be very simple. Simply include in the rules a provision about spamming the same image multiple times, either in a single or multiple posts, and even in signatures. Shock images are one thing; making your post or signature so long that it’s ponderous to have to scroll through and try to pick up the actual discussion where it left off is entirely another.

Roleplaying a Troll is one thing. Actually being a disruption to the Forum is entirely another.

I think his point is that repetitive images that do nothing to add to the topic of discussion are the primary problem, and that the ‘dragonz’ are simply one of the symptoms.

ET will find a way for it to work for you. For now just edit your post, copy the stuff and paste it into notepad and save it. In a few days when they have a good solution you’ll be able to paste it back in.

this is a forum for an online, browser based game about internet trolling. this forum does not effect the game itself really, except for flamebate e-peen.

Why would we do that? One dragon isn’t a problem. One gay porn image isn’t a problem. Both could be appropriate, topical, and effective trolling. The problem is “repetition.”

Agreed. I just hate letting it sit idle for so long. Business has been really good lately.

Worst case scenario, I can always use one post per ‘Aisle’. I may do that anyway, if I decide to start listing even more items.

Yes it’s my site and I can do whatever I want, but I obviously don’t deliberately act in ways to **** people off. I try do make calls that keep things fun but yet don’t **** people off constantly.

Something like the Dragons is particularly hard to make a call about, because half the people enjoy posting them and half the people hate them. So no matter who you side with, you’ll **** people off.

I don’t mind people posting gay porno personally, especially if it’s one image I can quickly scroll by. But when it’s 20 images it’s quite tedious.

The changes I made today were: There is a 5 image limit per post. However, all 5 must be unique within the post. Someone (Raepdog?) suggested the unique thing, but it’s been live since this afternoon. Try it — if you post the same image twice it’ll ask you to stop spamming.

Dragonz still work, gay porno still works, you just can’t post 20 images and make a user scroll constantly.

Obviously the auction is a valid use for 20+ images in one thread, so when I get some time I’ll look into how to get around that. I’ll probably just make exceptions to the rules in serious forums.

As some of you know changes to Flamebate are on the roster. We have brainstormed a ****load of ideas that I think will help with the majority of the issues. The goal is to cater to the troll as well as the person who wants to discuss things without getting dragons as a reply. It’s a difficult line to draw but I think we can do it ;P

As for the Fran thing — it was pretty well stated what happened. She decided to bail on a 20BP contest. When she did, she said she didn’t mind a ban. Yes over time she’s given us a lot of money and we’re grateful. But giving us a lot of money in the past doesn’t make you ban exempt.

I’m pretty sure Fran would be super ****ed if we let another high roller away with breaking such a serious rule without a ban. She says she’s gone and hopefully it’s not true, but I gotta stick to the rules.
