Mbum-removing subscriptions is a royal pain in the bum. I love that there’s the “clean out old subscriptions” option, but if there are more than a few old threads I want to stay subscribed to it’s not really a good option. So:
1) Is there any way CZ can add “check here to unsubscribe” functionality? This would be amazingly awesome, and considering how many other sites have this sort of thing I can’t imagine the coding would be that problematic.
2) Does someone have a GreaseMonkey script that could do this already?
And yes, I know, my own damn fault for subscribing to a lot of forums, but I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s done this. |

open the threads you want to keep in a new tab, clean up all subscription, then go through each tab clicking the subscribe bumon is this feasible?
I have 67 pages of useless subscriptions myself |

I just never unsubscribe from anything.
If a thread’s dead, why bother unsubscribing? It’ll never come back up anyway, and if it does it can probably be safely ignored. |

Considered it, but either way it’s going to be a hell of a lot of work. I have 22 pages of subscriptions, which is nowhere near as bad as yours but still feels like a hell of a lot to me.

I’m a little OCD about things like that. No real functional reason, just my hangup. |

In the meantime, right click and “open in new tab” on the unsubscribe bumons you want, and it’ll unsubscribe you in a new tab. When you’re done with one page, close all tabs but the one you’re one. Wash, rinse, repeat. |

That’s why I’m down to 22 pages from 26. It’s still seriously slow going, though.
(Mostly because I keep stopping to re-read threads, honestly.) OrsonScottCard edited this message on 02/04/2009 4:01PM |
