Lord Shplane Posted: Lord Shplane Posted: Lord Shplane Posted: Meaning what? It has ties to the gamecube making it inherently bad?
I’ll agree on other points, aside from Metroid as I have not played them. I was disappointed in Galaxy and Brawl lost a few points taking out some of the good aspects from the previous games. And look at this from a marketing standpoint. Is Nintendo making a ****load of money? Yes. Is it aimed at a larger audience, making them more money? Yes. Does make sense to just make hardcore games ailienating people? ... Now before say “yeah, but they should have some!”: Resident Evil Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 Scarface (i don’t really know much about this… but come on say hello to his little friend) Fire Emblem Mortal Kombat Armageddon Brother in Arms: Double Time Far Cry: Vengence No More Heroes
Unless you looking for Nintendo-only developed… and then what’s the point your making? You only want their games? |

I still want to see how the big sequels turned out on Wii myself, and the console has its good points, but I’d be lying if I said I would take it over a 360. It’s good for some people, but hardcores? Nah.
That said, as a former Ninty fanboy, the Wii is a lot easier to defend than the gamecube, and defending the gamecube was what I had to do with my friends the majority of the time in high school :/ |

No, the Gamecube was superior the the Wii, even if it was less popular. Twilight Princess was better simply because they HAD to work at making it better, since it was also a GC games. And if I remember correctly, was ORIGINALLY a GC game, and the Wii version was a last minute port kind of thing. They couldn’t ride on the motion control gimmick, so they had to TRY. And that’s why Twilight Princess was good.
The Girl With Mad Skillz Yo Posted:
I really don’t care about how much money they’re making. I’m worried about the quality of their games. Money isn’t the argument here: It’s how “hardcore” and enjoyable their games are. I’m not saying that they should ONLY make hardcore games, or even MOSTLY make hardcore games. But when they do, could they at least TRY to make them good?
The Girl With Mad Skillz Yo Posted:
You were obviously scraping the bottom of the barrel there, and could still only come up with 8 games?
Hell, I can come up with more games than that off the top of my head for the PS3.
CoD4 Fallout 3 MGS4 bumbumin’s Creed Valkyria Chronicles Armored Core 4 Armored Core For Answer Resistance Resistance 2 Bioshock Disgaea 3 Uncharted Soul Calibur 4 Oblivion DMC4
And these are just the ones that I own. I can literally TURN MY HEAD and see more good hardcore games than exist for the Wii. But here’s a few that I DON’T have, just to make sure.
Ratchet & Clank Prince of Persia GTA4 Dead Space Condemned 2
And just a few that are coming out.
FFXIII FFXIII VS Resident Evil 5 Borderlands Killzone 2 God of War 3
And THOSE are just the “Play it safe because I know they’ll be good” ones.
And I’m sure someone else could easily do exactly the same thing with 360 games.
The Girl With Mad Skillz Yo Posted:
No. It’s just that those were the closest things they had to good hardcore games, and they were nowhere near as good as they should have been. |

No, I only LISTED 8 games. If I scrapeing the bottom I would added Red Steel in there. I don’t really play “hardcore” games in any case. My point about how much money they are making is why would they change just to appease you. “Well, gee, I guess making everyone happy is better than making money!” Good plan, how about you start a business not to make the most of money you can.
And I’ve heard a lot of **** about some of the game you mentioned. But, no, I guess you’re right, they are all **** hot not a thing is wrong with them. |

Do you guys understand that Nintendo doesn’t make all of the games for the Wii? And Playstation/Sony doesn’t care more about “gamers” or is more hardcore because Konami makes Metal Gear Solid games. Okay, you can criticize the Wii for not have a lot of good games, but you can not blame Nintendo because Activision made Barbie Island Princess. Video game publishers thought the Wii was going to be the next Dreamcast. And now they are their focus.

This thread is ****ing awful. No More Heroes has only been brought up twice in three pages, and nobody even replied to either mention.
But of course, everybody has to scream “OH ****…OHOH **** I’M GUNNA great times!” while they mention SSB:Brawl.
Watch the following, then go buy this game and play the **** out of it.

I’m starting off by apologizing for being kind of male reproductive organish with my previous posts. I TRY not to act like a fanboy, but I’ve had to argue this **** a million times, so I get a bit worked up.
Balloon Posted: Balloon Posted: (Seperate quotes because I’m chopping up your post a bit.)
First off, I never said that “Nothing was wrong with them”. That implies that perfect games exist. They don’t. None of the games that either of us, or that have ever been made, are perfect.
So I was bored enough to go to Metacritic and look this stuff up. **** insomnia btw. I normally don’t care about scores, (The lowest scoring game in my list is one of my favorites this gen) but eh, I suppose it’s the only argument that can be made here. So for the purpose of this exercise, we’ll consider any score about 70 to be “good”. I’m bumuming that’s agreeable.
Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles (I’m bumuming you meant Umbrella Chronicles): 75 Medal of Honor Heroes 2: 73 Scarface The World is Yours: 71 Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn: 78 Mortal Kombat Armageddon: 71 Brothers in Arms Double Time: 45 Far Cry Vengeance: 38 No More Heroes: 83
The two highest scoring games are in the high 70’s and low 80’s (Fire Emblem and No More Heroes respectively). Two scored what can only be described as “****”, Far Cry and Brothers in Arms. Those are the ones I was saying were “bottom of the barrel”. The rest were in the mid to low 70’s. Not very amazing score range there. If we go ahead and add in Mario Galaxy, Smash Bros., Metroid Prime, and LoZ, we get…
Mario Galaxy: 97 (Still don’t ****ing understand that, but *Shrugs*) Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess: 95 (Gamecube version got a 96 lol) Super Smash Bros. Brawl: 93 Metroid Prime 3: 90
Better by quite a bit. All in the 90’s. Now if we subtract the two games with the horrible scores, we get 10 good hardcore games for the Wii.
Now let’s look at the games I listed…
COD4: 94 Fallout 3: 91 MGS4: 94 bumbumin’s Creed: 80 Valkyria Chronicles: 87 Armored Core 4: 65 Armored Core For Answer: 62 Resistance: 86 Resistance 2: 87 Bioshock: 94 Disgaea 3: 78 Uncharted: 88 Soul Calibur IV: 85 Oblivion: 84 DMC4: 84 Ratchet & Clank: 89 Prince of Persia: 84 GTA4: 98 Dead Space: 88 Condemned 2: 82 Killzone 2: 93 (Just found out that it has a review score now Log in to see images!)
Now some of those scores will show you why I really don’t trust review scores. The two Armored Core games being in the 60’s is a ****ing shame, and Valkyria Chronicles should be 156009908090809708097980793543. But I’ll accept it, even if I don’t like it. So taking that, six games are in the 90’s, one is in the 70’s, two are in the 60’s, and the remaining 12 are in the 80’s.
So if we go ahead and subtract the two AC games (Though I’m incredibly loathe to do it), we get 19 games.
Now add in the fact that on this page there’s practically nothing worth mentioning, and it’s easy to see that the Wii has a serious shortage on worthwhile hardcore games.
Balloon Posted:
Again, this thread isn’t about the business aspect. I admit that they’re making money, that they’re out to make money, and that they have no reason to make hardcore games when they’re making money otherwise. But that’s not what we’re talking about, and I really don’t see why people always bring it up.
the Remainder Posted:
First off, that link is about EA, not every gaming company ever. And EA is notorious for making **** games. The only worthwhile thing they’ve done in years is Dead Space, and that was only good because everyone but the small group who pitched it kept their hands off of the title. I really can’t WAIT at ALL to see what gimmicky “innovative” waggle bull**** NFL games they make. I imagine that it’ll come with a special strap to connect the Wiimote to your foot for kicking field goals, and that said strap will constantly break, causing the Wiimote to smash a few hundred more TV’s. And I also suspect that the hit detection on said goal-kicking will be horrible and usually result in the ball moving about five feet or half a mile to the side of the goal.
And for Nintendo, a company that’s practically synonymous with good first-party hardcore games, that has always furnished its console with huge amounts of epicness, to simply half-bum up a sequel to all their primary IP’s then start pumping out “Wii *Insert action here*” games and progressively worse bastardizations of the Mario franchise? It’s sickening.
Nintendo has NEVER had a lot of good third-party titles. They’ve ALWAYS made quality first-party games. But not anymore it would seem. I’m just hoping they decide to actually put some work into a non-waggle**** Legend of Zelda game some time soon, because that’s the only hope I really have left for the Wii.
EDIT: Also, they let Sega make Mario $ Sonic Olympics. ‘Nuff said. Lord Shplane edited this message on 02/06/2009 4:22AM |

No, I do have a feeling you’re going to hate Wii for making anything. I serously don’t much difference in LoZ Wii and Gamecube versions. Yes, you the controllers are different, but that really didn’t seem to impact me much, I’m not why it did you. my point about making money is the REASONING for these “****” games. Just making sure you got that. |

Judging by those metacritic scores, the PS3 may have a number of decent games but the Wii’s top 3 games have much better scores. Besides I can name plenty of other Wii games that certainly deserve scores in the 80s as well.
Also you have to be smoking some bad weed if you think Sunshine was better than Galaxy. Obviously neither one of them compares to how fantastic 64 was, but Galaxy was still pretty damn awesome and it certainly kicks the **** out of that ****ing water gun game.
And did you seriously say DS titles are still nothing but touch screen gimmicks? I believe that fad of abusing the touch screen died just a few months after the DS came out, and there’s certainly no lack of AAA titles now.
Anyway, another thing worth bringing up is the Virtual Console. It’s nice to see a bunch of great clbumics available again through this, but the slow trickle of releases is such an incredibly douchebaggy move and seems to illustrate that Nintendo just doesn’t care about what we want – how much does it cost them to just put out all the games they own the rights to and be done with it? Nintendo Power runs a poll every month asking what games people want released on the VC. And every single month since the Wii’s release, Earthbound was the number one most requested game. So… what the hell is stopping them from releaing it? Instead, the VC ends up being just like the disc lineup: 99% shovelware.
Satoru Iwata is the world’s most skilled troll, I tell you. |

Nintendo is making the same kind of game that they always have. You are just older and your tastes have changed. I think my point still stands. The Wii does have a lot of crap games. Nintendo does not make all of them. Also, you should keep in mind that games made for the PS3 and Xbox360 might not port well to the Wii. |

I need to pick this up, I bought the House of the Dead 2&3 for the Wii and it was a truly wonderful experience; so good it justified the price of the Wii itself. The Wii is the best thing for rail shooters short of “owning a vintage arcade cabinet”. I wonder if they’ll ever bother to release Time Crisis (respiffed) on the Wii.
I may be weird, but I really prefer Rail Shooters to FPSs. Possibly a Cabbage edited this message on 02/24/2009 4:16AM |
