Losing a streak after a dozen forums is nothing. This happend to people who have pwned about 50 forums. That sucks. Log in to see images!

If the consecutive streaks allowed doing the same forum, streaks would only end if a player died. That would not only be terribly annoying and unhelpful for earning scoops, but would waste a ton of visits on dying and resetting things.

Advice for the future, pwn 2 forums in a row to start your streak. It resets the loop and you know exactly which forum you need to avoid for the remainder of the loop. Log in to see images! scully edited this message on 10/22/2008 11:02AM

There are reasons to die. Antifreeze scoops, certain missions, etc.

And if you think pwning a non-unique forum within your streak shouldn’t break your streak then I suggest you again review the meaning of the word “unique”.

Tell you what, you go on your path and keep track however you like.

EDIT: Also, the rules aren’t hidden, you simply chose to interpret them in your own way. Again, I will point out that a player who didn’t want to lose a forum visit by killing themselves could only ever have one streak if the system worked the way you think it should. I’m a little boggled that you are annoyed that you won’t have to kill your self in order to reset your future streaks.

Honestly, the “streaking” code is one of the most stable pieces of the code base at this point. It has been tested over months of time.

We regularly get bug reports about the streaks not working, and EVERY single time I’ve looked into it, it has been user error. It is also time consuming to look into it, because it involves going back through dozens of forums.

I won’t say it’s impossible to break it, just that at this point it’s highly unlikely there is a really obvious problem with it. That’s why your bug report didn’t get a response yet.

If the code is so stable how come the streak counter on the visits page hasn’t come back?
