Banning for not breaking any rules, awesome move.MC Banhammer Posted:
Then can we just make an RP forum for good threads where spamming is not allowed, and instead of stickying threads, just move them there? I think there’s value in having the same rules apply to every single thread in a given forum. (view post) |

Banning for not breaking any rules, awesome move.I don’t really understand why sticky threads ought to have special rules. If we want to recognize a thread as “great” and protect it from jackbumes, why don’t we just move it to a special forum. A special forum where people can still post in threads, but nobody can create threads there, threads just get moved there. That way every single thread in the special forum can be subject to the same set of rules.
I just find it troubling that “threads a moderator likes” are the only threads in the RP forums that have special rules applied to them. (view post) |

Time to make a new ruleSomething that crops up everytime a really good thread happens in an RP forum is that people request that it be moved to “Full of Won”, not fully understanding what that means. Full of Won is a place where good threads go after they are dead, to celebrate their lives.
So how about instead of stickying good threads that crop up in RP forums, instead we create another forum that’s just for good threads where people can actually post. A thread can only get there because a moderator anointed it as quality, but people can actually continue to post in them (they just can’t create new topics in the forum). In this “hall of good threads” (or whatever), there can be strict rules like “don’t spam”, “don’t post draginz”, “don’t post unrelated images” that keep people from ruining a good thread, and these rules apply equally to every thread in that forum. So that way the only stickies in the RP forums can be “here are the rules” stickies, and the good threads get to go somewhere where they will be treated with appropriate respect.
Seems to me like a better solution than “having a different set of rules for some of the threads in a forum, based on how much a moderator likes them” like we have currently. (view post) |

Stop Stickying ThreadsSeriously, if you’re going to make stupid rules about what can and can’t happen in sticky threads, don’t sticky any threads that aren’t “these are the rules of the forum”, at least not in any RP forums.
It’s incredibly lame that “a mod likes this thread” can protect a thread from the same sort of minor trolling and jackbumery that’s allowable in EVERY SINGLE OTHER thread in an RP forum, on pain of banning. Just because a mod thinks a thread is fun or neat or interesting shouldn’t mean that special rules apply to that thread. The mods are there to keep people from breaking the rules, not to make rules that ensure that the mods have more fun.
If a thread is really good, it’ll stay on top without anybody stickying it. If a mod thinks a thread is truly epic and responses to the thread don’t indicate this is a common opinion, just bump it every once in a while like the rest of us do. There’s no need to use the banhammer to keep people from messing with things that you like. (view post) |

I Got An Item Idea!Samildanach Posted:
If I came up with the winning art or description for an itembuildr, I’d hang onto it whether or not I could use it since it has “I had a part in making this” sentimental value. The flezz rewards, if any, should be trivial. The flezz rewards from forumbuildr are trivial, and nobody complains since nobody needs more flezz.
Plus, if you sell the item you helped design, that would be a sizable flezz reward, there’s no need for any other. (view post) |

Should rule changes be announced formally?Big Brother Posted:
I’d like to express the opposite opinion. I’ve never been a member of a site less banhappy than this one. I do have to say that I’ve also never been a member of a site with a less clear, concise, well-understood, and centralized bank of rules, however. (view post) |

How long until we get the first piece of hardware/item that grants PP?Evil Trout Posted:
So it is possible. Good to know.
Off the top of your head, do you know if PP can spawn on any types of items other than hardware? It makes sense that it should be available in books (since there is already a book that gives PP) and maybe from glbumes (since it makes sense, and glbumes already give multiple types of substats)? Should rule changes be announced formally?I think they should be announced somewhere, but not necessarily in the options that the poll presents. The various and sundry rules for this game aren’t really organized and concisely expressed in one place that everybody can refer to. It would be super-keen to have something like that. (view post) |

Not enough forum buildr forumsI don’t get it. Why does the fact that there are a lot of buildr forums mean that there have to be even more buildr forums? What’s good about increasing the number of forums by 10% every week?
With the quality of buildr forums as bad as it is, do we really need to rush these folks? (view post) |

How long until we get the first piece of hardware/item that grants PP?So far itembuildr has generated 19 items.
1 .moar file 3 pairs of glbumes 3 tattoos 3 piercings 2 special items 2 sets of lingerie 1 fetish 3 books 1 pair of shoes
Of these items 4 grant douchebaggery 7 grant tears 8 grant sexiness
Notably absent from all of these lists is: 0 pieces of Hardware 0 items that grant Processing Power. (view post) |

Suggestion: Make 10 medals the minimum requirement to post in the domination forumSamildanach Posted:
I understand Wylin’s point of “it’s neat to have tangible rewards for progressing in the game”, but I think the key distinction should be “things you unlock should be new things, and not things that people already had, but they were taken away so that people would have the ‘pleasure’ of unlocking them.”
If there was a “hardcore domination” forum created that required some number of medals nobody has yet (say 50) to access (for people who are not mods or admins), that would be fine. People who are there would have considerable voice in terms of “I know what I’m talking about when it comes to Dom”, and people who don’t know what they’re talking about wouldn’t get in.
But taking things away from people is always going to breed resentment. (view post) |

We Need To Be Able To Turn Of Word FilteringThere is precedence for a “Pay BP to disable word filters on your end” since we can currently pay BP to disable ads. I don’t think those are really all that different, word filters are a means to put money in ET’s pocket and so are ads. If you want to avoid one or the other, give ET an amount of money he would consider fair.
How much BP should a “turn off word filters” option cost? 5 BP? (view post) |

Suggestion: Make 10 medals the minimum requirement to post in the domination forumI disagree with the suggestion, for the simple reason that a topic like “For those of you who don’t play Dom, why not?” is a reasonable topic to discuss, and is something that really belongs in the Dom forum. At the same time though, it’s something that only people who don’t play Dom very much if at all can really comment on.
People who don’t know anything, commenting on the things they don’t know about should just be ignored. (view post) |
