CLOSED: CONTEST FOR 1BP: Recommend me a ****ing weird/interesting video gameI was also going to suggest The White Chamber, but I was beaten to it.
Takeshi no Chosenjo is something I still need to attempt to play at some stage. Mostly because it’s a game that was deliberately created to be really really bad.
The original Clock Tower for the SNES was an interesting diversion for me.
Elvira creeped me out when I was younger. Some of the death scenes in that game were pretty graphic for a 1990-era game. It’s just a pity that it’s so difficult to track that game down. Log in to see images! (view post) |

ITT: Tell us WHY your favourite games are your favourite games (possible TL;DR)It also took me closer to 100 hours to finish Nocturne. Mostly because I was pretty much hell-bent on completing the Demonic Compendium. I’m still upset that I went into the Tower of Kagatsuchi before finishing the Labyrinth of Amala, thus missing out on getting Pierce for my main character. Which is why I need to replay this. Seriously.
Also: I also dislike the Pokemon analogy. Mostly because the Megaten series came into being long before Pokemon did.
Anyway. On to my favourite game…
StarCraft
I’ll admit that this one largely remains at the top of my list due to nostalgia. But that doesn’t diminish my appreciation for it in any way.
This was the first game I played where the story really managed to draw me in and make me feel as if I was a part of it. It made me feel as if I were more than just a pbumive observer. And it ended up leaving quite an impression on my impressionable teenage mind.
What really extended this game’s lifespan for me was the multiplayer aspect. Countless hours were wasted and countless petty rivalries turned serious thanks to this game. And all of that because of my really bad habit of dark templar rushing one of my friends each time he decides to play Terran. (view post) |

I Need Good Book SuggestionsI’d recommend pretty much anything by Tom Robbins. Fierce Invalids Home from Hot Climates entertained me greatly.
I also really enjoyed Neal Stephenson’s Baroque Cycle (Quicksilver, The Confusion and The System of the World) I can only describe it as a dramatised historical novel. Takes a look at events of the late 17th/early 18th century with a whole lot of fictional characters thrown in with the key figures of that time (Including Newton and Leibniz, among others) Certainly one of those rare books that actually made me laugh out loud while reading it. Your Favorite Games of all timeEarthbound is more than just a game, though. I’m still not sure whether I should view it as being wonderful or pretentious or wonderfully pretentious, though.
It’s been mentioned many times how much commentary the developers put into the game about their lives and the way they view games.
One example, apparently the dialogue during the final battle is based on a traumatic childhood experience when one of the developers walked into the wrong movie theatre and saw a part of some tentacle-enjoy hentai movie. (view post) |
