Just noticed all of the fine upstanding member of society fine upstanding member of society fine upstanding member of society/Franch Ginger entries are gone. I would comment on that, but CD isn’t the place.

Alright, we had a quick meeting about what to do.

• The forum’s a funny idea. There are some good posts in there. So, let’s keep it.

• Just because the premise is an in-joke, it doesn’t have to completely suck. We don’t want every avatar to have the same name, so we fixed them for you. Don’t give them all the same name, as that’s a form of plagiarism. Allowing more plagiarism isn’t part of the petition, is it?

• We also buried the “franch ginger” seizure logos. Don’t copy other people’s submissions, even if they are terrible (sorry Fingerz).

• Since downvoting has gotten to compulsive levels, we decided to implement the third phase of missionbuildr (as mentioned here) next week! So look out for a formal announcement shortly (EDIT: here it is) and don’t bother posting forum ideas this week. You can still vote on the existing ones if you like (or dislike), of course.

• The wacky, zany and not at all pointlessly belabored nature of this protest has indeed caught the attention of the admins (BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!) and we’e going to try to do something about it as soon as we can. At the very least, the gameplay update should solve one small problem (table-breaking images).

There you go. The system works! Can I get a “Whoooooa, Crotch Zombie”?

How is ‘Fran is Fat’ an obscure in joke? It’s one of (if not the) biggest Forumwarz homegrown memes. It took me all of like, a week as a noob to find that one out. I think the concept is a good one and could lead to a really neat ‘Battle Threadz’ style forum if done correctly. I see nothing wrong with having a forum that is a nod to the user base vs some website or meme I might not necessarily know.

Nor do I, and once I saw fine upstanding member of society fine upstanding member of society fine upstanding member of society early on I was hoping it would become a big homegrown meme/injoke/retard submission factory. I even submitted Kaisers (feel free to nuke those anyone) in the hopes of adding to the giant meme factory. I even agree that a lot of the older Forums are funier than anything coming out recently and wish I had been around for them, or that we could work on them some more (If no sub is +10 or higher, redo an old Forum with all current material autosubbed for free on behalf of the original creator? Or just new stuff added to make them more varied?)

I just disagree that there is inherent humor in any system that is broken. -To Fran, I never said it wasn’t voted in legit, I specifically said that’s why I don’t like universal voting systems, irony notwithstanding. The complaint seems to be that the system is broken because people vote in ****ty things while defending Fran is Fat because it was voted in Democratically. Yes submissions need balancing and perhaps more/less options with the build such as the layout, but other than that it’s entirely democratic and any issues with that probably shouldn’t be used as a defense.

I’d love to see funnier Forums to work with, the ones I think have potential don’t tend to make it but if you have a problem with the Forums, start upvoting the good ones, suggest good ones to get upvoted, make those parody sites. Hell make subforums for currently existing builds that could use expansion.

People saying “Fran is Fat” got me interested in Buildr? It wasn’t one person who made 600 fine upstanding member of society fine upstanding member of society fine upstanding member of society submissions, and the quality of the other subs isn’t somehow magically hilarious compared to before so unless it carries over to next week and actual attempts at humor I’m not seeing “This Forum can be trashed, WOOT!” as a benefit.
