My boyfriend deploys in a couple months and will be in Afghanistan for a year, perhaps a little longer. The one thing I wish for more than anything in the world is for him to come back safely when he’s done over there. It’s cliche for me to say that this relationship is the best thing that ever happened to me, but I don’t know how else to say it so I won’t try. He makes me laugh; he knows how to console me when I’m not so great. It’d be selfish to make one wish for myself and leave the rest of the world out to dry and I’ll make this one as well: I wish that someday, everyone finds someone to fall asleep beside at night, someone to cook for, someone to dance with, someone who inspires them to be everything they thought they’d have to use magic wishes to be.
