How about instead of Double medals, since it will be the last week of everyone playing like crazy madmen and all serious players will be at max streak anyways, award medals to the top 2 positions in any one area? It would award double the medals, just more spread out and people sweeping in lower brackets won’t suddenly jump from 7 to 13 Medals and getting placed in one of the top 3 brackets won’t kick your odds in the nuts quite as hard.

I don’t think it’s a good idea. It’ll make the game even less competitive.
