If I may interject…

I noticed Celerysteve’s posts in Flamebate, specifically his fake chat logs. He has a knack for writing good, Forumwarlike dialog and I found the **** hella funny. He was also familiar with the F4 saga, whereas I only had a few encounters with the guy (and thank **** for that).

I thought the situation was ripe for parody, so I approached Celery with the idea — casual like — knowing full well that he had a habit of ****ing off some posters and mods. But I don’t discriminate. The fact that he was so enthusiastic about writing the script, despite time constraints, indicated to me that he was serious.

And in the end, I thought he delivered an excellent convo. We had a few disagreements over the direction of the mission, but that’s inevitable.

Incidentally, Celerysteve is not the first user to submit an in-game sTalk chat. A couple of other Awesome Sauce holders have that distinction. Celery’s contribution was my favorite so far.

Now, I know we have a ton of good writers here. The reason why I haven’t put out a site-wide call for submissions, as was suggested in this thread, is partly because I know I couldn’t handle the workload right now. Also, the criticism that we’d be having users “pay us to do our work” would suddenly become valid.

Nevertheless, if someone demonstrates the genuine interest, skill and willingness to work together on a project, I will always consider it. But I’ve also rejected many bad pitches over the last year, so it’s never a sure thing.
