I’m gonna be painfully obvious here and point out The Sandman by Neil Gaiman too, since it’s not been mentioned yet. Anything by Alan Moore’s usually excellent as well so I’ll mention V for Vendetta n’all. I’m currently enjoying Robert Kirkman’s stuff at the moment, The Walking Dead and Invincible don’t bring anything particularly new to their genre’s (zombies and superheroes, respectively) but are extremely entertaining nonetheless.

Errr… Sin City by Frank Miller, 30 Days of Night by Steve Niles and Ghost in the Shell by Shirow Masamune are all very good too. Can you tell my that my tastes are strictly mainstream? Just about anything else I like has already been mentioned.

I’ve also been told that DMZ by Brian Wood, The Invisibles by Grant Morrison and just about anything by Warren Ellis is worth reading, but I’ve not got round to them meself.
