There are no rules against talking “in character” in non-RP threads, as long as it’s not trolling, doesn’t violate other rules, AND follows the gist of thread (No emo kid “I can’t pwn Great Wall of China so I’m going to kill myself later”, for example, unless it’s followed up with asking for help doing so. You see the difference?).

Of course for trolls, that might be tough, and if re-res want to use re-re talk they have to run the risk that no one will bother deciphering what they write. So they’re probably better off not posting in-character except in the RP forums.
