Alright then We will be starting this thread off with a bang!
Kick bum directed by Matthew Vaughn.
Story 7/10. Very good story, progressed well. It gets a 7 because I don’t really think the character’s stories were in depth enough for me to feel for them.
Characters 6/10 The character’s, while interesting and relateable, didn’t have enough background for me to enjoy them. The movie focused in on the action and basic plot but never got to into character analysis.
Originality 9/10 What can I say. Some of the characters were typical but the plot was original and interesting enough to keep my attention.
Actor Ability 5/10. They were Good. But nothing new or very interesting was brought to the table
Entertainment 8/10 This is a movie you can sit down, watch through, be interested the entire time then feel it was a good 2 hours spent, but I don’t think it’s something you’ll be talking about for the next few days.
Comedy: 4/10. It’s not meant to be a comedy but I got a few chuckles.
Action: 9/10 The Action Sequences were great and never felt repeated.
Drama: 2/10. You don’t really feel for the characters. It’s more like they’re playing their part and nothing more.
Overall Rating 7/10 It’s a good watch but nothing to put on a top 10 list |

1) The movie was meant as an action-comedy, you’re wrong when you say ‘it ain’t no comedy kekeke’.
2) It’s a comic book movie, not a drama. As far as comedic graphic novels go, it had a decent deal of drama, but then again, it was never meant to have much.
You are sure as hell no Ebert (even if he’s a douche for saying no videogame is art). |

Do ‘Psycho’ and ‘Peeping Tom’.
As horror films released in the 60’s, they share quite a few points of comparision, mainly the freudian overtones present in both, and the sympathetic portrayal of the killer.
The implication of the audience as voyers in ‘Peeping Tom’ is especially unsettling.
I feel that this quote from Stanley Cavell’s book ‘A World Viewed’ is especially relevant here: ‘What does the silver screen screen? It screens me from the world it holds — that is, makes me invisible. And it screens that world from me — that is, screens its existence from me’. See whether your views of the films change considering this statement.
I expect a full and comprehensive analysis. |

Disney and Dreamwork’s How to Train Your Dragon
Additionally we will be adding 2 more categories that I feel help make a movie. Log in to see images!rumroll: Villain and Ending.
Story 7/10. A very fun, uplifting concept, while not as good as Wall-E’s hidden message (imo) the message was a nice bit of change from today’s movies.
Characters 6/10. The character’s were very fun, but the basic Dreamwork’s Movie characters and most of them take overly dramatic character changes
Originality 7/10. The story was quite good in originality by taking a viking aspect and mixing it with a dragon one. But as said before the characters were your average Dreamworks/Pixar/Disney characters.
Actor Ability 8/10. While only voice acting they acted it with enough emotion to bring me into the movie.
Entertainment 9/10. Very entertaining and interesting throughout the entire movie, The 2-3 minutes of dullness did drop it down to a 9 though.
Villain. 4/10. Don’t take it personally Dreamworks but your villains are very played out.
Comedy: 5/10. It’s got the Disney comedic flare, great for kids, but still enough to break a smile for adults.
Action: 4/10 The Action Sequences were a bit of hit and miss. Sometimes they were just right and other times they had far to much going on to be what a good action sequence should.
Drama: 9/10. A homerun for this category. You’ll feel very attached to the character’s by the end.
Ending 7/10. While everything wrapped up nicely it felt like it was missing something.
Overall Rating 8/10. While it’s your basic Dreamwork’s movie, who doesn’t enjoy them? |
