tl;dr I believe that it is overpriced, but that it doesn’t need to be free.

I guess its cool you were trying to say that except no one is really saying it should be completely free, so I still don’t really know what you are trying to accomplish.

You know it just occurred to me had they simply asked that 360 Log in to see images! for the unlimited inbox space that would have made sense. Like, “Hey guys, this is clogging up the server; if you want an unlimited inbox give us 30 bucks or delete some stuff — take it or leave it; that’s just how it is”. People would have been fine with that. There have had been no outrage.

Where they ****ed up was trying to nickel and dime it with grease monkey scripts and piddly bum bull**** to sweeten the deal like it was some kind of package. That shifted the focus away from the practical needs of the server (which we could have all understood) to instead, as a result, us scrutinizing it’s value in comparison to the various little mundane improvements they tried to tack on to the deal.

Anyone who bought this is NOT supporting the site so much as ****ing with 99% of the community and everyone who helped work on the game (a noble goal, if it were the actual goal of the people buying it). 5 people buying it for $30 is not going to help line ET’s xbox shelf as well as the loads of people who’d be perfectly willing to buy it for $10 or $15.

Honestly, at 100 BP that puts it fairly on par with the bigger things on the site but I’d agree that for the lack of real additions to the game itself 50 BP would make more sense.

As far as donations are concerned, I fully intend on buying 1000BP eventually and messing around with stuff like contests and Avatars/Pranks for my own amusement. Whereas in order to be able to extract one file at a time I’m considering simply deleting a bunch of TMs from my mailbox and dealing with the smaller bar in Battle even if Orange were completely free.

Having something like 50 BP for the whole bundle or 20-25 BP for individual applications of Orange I think would be more sound as it offers the ability to customize while supporting CZ at a very reasonable price that many would be willing to pay while instead looking to offer more inane options to play around with like leetlol’s smiley change.

At 10-15 BP I can bumure you that many people would want to change their smiley, especially to new ones being added every so often by the community. I know I’d pick up about 8 of them myself. The real moneymakers are the little things that the community can do to each other imo.

Of course I don’t know what BP is used so I could be very wrong of course. But for the amount of effort put in, I know I’ve spent more on Avatar changes than on Episode 3 (Hell look at the fine upstanding member of society prank or Parlok/spf)

The only thing I’d want Orange for is the flamebate icon thing to hide all the horribly **** user made emotes. This is not a feature, but a fix – something that should have been made available as soon as user made emotes became an option.

I’m having trouble getting angry about it though.

P. sure Scripts can do everything FWZ orange can do to the navigation bar, it just takes a little more effort.

As time goes on, I end up with less and less emotes to choose from. Also this would block the emotes from displaying at all, thus rendering my fellow posters childish dribblings even more incomprehensible.

That’s basically how I see it.

About 5 people paying $30 each < (I would predict) half the people who bought episode 2&3 paying $10 each

well there could be a compromise; say for example that buying packages contributes to a “virtual purchase” once a certain milestone is reached.

Something like this: A flat rate of 200 BP for Orange Lifetime. THEN, if people feel chintzy, if they buy a month or two of orange it contributes to a 300 BP amount which if ever completed will ultimately buy them orange. That way, if people don’t feel like buying it right away or want a short term solution or want to pay over time, they still are reducing the ultimate cost. You could reduce the proportional cost of the lifetime membership too.

Just a thought.

The idea of the shorter ones reducing the cost of the lifetime subscription is a good idea, I think.

The biggest beef is that people don’t want to pay for something that expires with no lasting benefit.

I like the idea of monthly subscriptions reducing the cost to buy Orange in the end, I’m still not a fan of the price tags, though.

It should be free with the option to disable it, if you ppl pay for shiny beads and parlor tricks soon every website you go to will want money for browsing comforts..who knows? Microsoft could start charging money for windows updates and it will be all your fault for not killing the beast when it was Bourne!!

I had the first bum avatar.

Hey guys,

We met about this tonight and decided that, before we do anything rash, we ought to do as Bashy suggested and properly poll the community.

In the past, we’ve always done market research before deciding on pricing. So in that respect, we really “dropped our balls,” as the saying doesn’t go.

But since your Forumwarz Orangeā„¢ trial period is still ongoing, it gives us an opportunity to pick your brains about the subject. So look out for a fun ‘n flirty Google Docs survey, coming soon!
