Pokemon Diamond and Pearl ?

i was wondering where i should ask people for their opinion about Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, and quite suddenly i started realizing forumwarz’ civil discussion is the best place to do just that.
im thinking about purchasing one of the current two games for Nientendös DS (Log in to see images!) because i’ve played all the older poké-games before and think they’re awsm!

If your buying now, get Platinum, not D/P. You not only can get both Palkia and Dialga, but it also has various improvements like the Battle Frontier, alternate forms for Rotom, Shaymin, and Giratina, and other various improvements.
As for what I think of the games, I like them. Can’t think of anything in particular, I just like them Log in to see images! |

I stopped after whichever generation Gold/Silver was. Played Red, played Gold, briefly raged at the fact that the “only in Blue” and “only in Silver” monsters overlapped a lot. Played Snap and Stadium on the N64… good ol’ N64, home of the best Mario Kart game I’ve played (haven’t played Wii, but I doubt I’m going to) and a damn good Smash Bros. too
Came close to actually completing Gold – probably would have done if not for the catridge-failure of a friend of mine who had Silver; internal battery died, lost their saved game before they were able to trade some Silver-exclusive ones over.
Then again I have a feeling I may have used some cheats to get the other starting monsters, some special ones from Red/Blue, maybe those 3 special dog ones from G/S too, so completing it wouldn’t have been entirely legit.
And that is the story of me and the Pokemon games. The end. |

Interesting opinion. Mario Kart 64 had the worst rubber band effect of the series. They should release the Arcade versions as a bundle, by the way. While this is slightly off-topic, I just feel I should note that the logo for Pokemon Diamond and Pearl makes it look like it’s Pokemon: Double Penetration, which is what the hentai Pokemon series would be called in my mind. |

I don’t know what a rubber band effect is, I just remember Mario Kart 64 being awesome. Haven’t played the SNES, Wii or GBA versions, the tag team thing in Double Dash was an annoying gimmick, and on the DS I found handheld controls annoying for Karting.
Plus the N64 is just pretty awesome imo. Anything on it gets some points for that. |

If you’re looking for the best one, I’d choose Platinum. If you’re actually just looking between Diamond/Pearl, Diamond. |

I’ve only played Pearl, but in my experience the 3rd game is usually the best and most interesting (yellow, cyrstal, emerald, etc.). I’m waiting for SoulSilver/Heartgold since the generation 2 games were my favorite, crystal being the first handheld pokemon game I ever played.
In short, either pick the one that your friend(s) doesn’t(don’t) have, or get platinum for the extra features. Also, if you haven’t already, I’d check to see if your wifi is compatible with your DS system. I haven’t been able to get mine to work, so I’ve missed out on a lot of stuff. From what I can tell, DSi has the best range of compatible wifi types. |
