I have two concerns about this contest, one which I will air publicly here and one which I will TM to you privately.

The problem with creative RPing, as we’ve seen by the departure of people like GS49 and other old-school RPers, was the laxity given to those “RPing” as trolls (or just, y’know, BEING trolls). If any RP thread started by a gimmick alt is filled with shock pics, kaisers, draginz, etc., the fun of RPing a gimmick goes out the window.

Can you please, as part of this contest, also create a “Civil RP” forum? Where rules of CD are applied, albeit with some leniency towards verbal trolling (as compared to image/spam trolling)?

I think the problem has always been over-exaggerated and what is suggested boils down to letting certain people do whatever they want and others have stricter rules. It really isn’t a lack of role-play, it is a lack of quality role play. And really if someone quits at the first negative comment, then they don’t have the skills to role play. I mean really, how can you consider “1100001101011010101101001010101101” role play? Or “I am a sad Emo Log in to see images!

And how am I supposed to engage with you? Am I expected to find a binary translator and translate everyone of your posts? There is responsibility on both side to make this work.

And really what kind of role play is this? My sTalk conversations with haxlrose were not in binary. This is just lazy. There is no character here.

Nah, negative comments aren’t a problem. It’s the content-less posts (shock images, off-topic randomness like kaisers/draginz, etc.) that are hard to respond to.

Who does these things? Seriously. Kaiser was one person that doesn’t do it anymore. Draginz was a fad that has past. Shock images are allowed in the rules, which you were apart of and there was no discussion with the community about, and who actually posts shock repeatedly?

All we have are gimmick alts, Fran alone has 10, and no one uses them because they don’t want to role play. There seems to be a false memory of a big groups of role players in the past, but that was only like three people. Ever since I have been here there has been talking about the death of role play, but it has always been that there is an absence of people committed to role playing.

I can’t help thinking that the reason people don’t roleplay is because you can’t get a peen for it.

Or possibly because they are just convenient names for alts of various clbumes who could clearly identify me when I was a mod, and so don’t have particularly distinct personalities without interacting with myself, which is role-playing masturbation?

Srsly, the reason I haven’t RPed much is because when I was a mod, way too much of my time was taken up modding to try to RP. One of the reasons I stepped down from modding was because I was spending too much time on the site. I’m now trying to find the balance. When I find it, I’ll be very tempted to RP, EXCEPT that I don’t go to the RP side due to the shock images Log in to see images!

And yes I know I was on the committee which decided to allow them, and I support that decision for the trolls, who were getting the short stick. Now, they have the most power, and it’s impacting everyone else. Which is why I want a “Civil” RP section. And I’ve actually been arguing for one for months. For those of you on the task force reading this, I refer you to this thread.

If you don’t ever go the the Role Playing forums you can not say what happens to the threads that are made there.
Bid Squid, which is an octopus, hit on one of the issues. The forums are dead. I think Crotch Zombie should be exploring why we, I meant to type “people” but I am leaving it like this, keep leaving the site. The forums are not separate from the rest of the game.

I will help. Evil Trout is a lazy programer and Crotch Zombie doesn’t seem to learn from their mistakes. There is an overwhelming feeling that the concerns and interests of the current customers of Crotch Zombie, those that have already donated, are being ignored. And there is no confidence that any of the problems will ever be fixed.
