Current fans gain formula roughly is (damage_dealt – damage_received)/turns_taken. The idea behind this formula is simple: fans = DPT ratio (damage per turn). In real life things work much harder (yes, we really should’ve tested more lvl 35 alts on test server).

Let’s say you’re lvl 35 troll with [almost] best gear, your best attacks do 4500 and 3000 damage and you obviously take no damage from forums. Your estimated DPT should be average between your attack, right? (4500 + 3000)/2 = 3750. If the forum has 8 threads, you deal 4*4500 + 4*3000 = 30000 damage and gain 3750 fans. Ok, that’s your DPT. What if forum has 7 threads? You deal 27000 damage and gain 3857 fans. That’s not your DPT. Hey, you cheated 107 fans, bastard! Why? Because even and odd number of threads make big difference.

Furthermore, the cooldowns make difference too. Let’s say you’re lvl 35 permanoob, forum has vuln to recipes and your basic attacks. Recipes[1] deal 3500 damage, your attacks average 1500[2] and 1100[3]. If the forum has 8 threads you do 1-2-3-2-3-2-3-2 -> 3500 + 6000 + 3300 = 12800 = 1600 fans. Now if the forum has 9 threads you do 1-2-3-2-3-2-3-2-1 -> 7000 + 6000 + 3300 = 12800 = 1811 fans. Wow, even more difference here!

I don’t know. I think I might sacrifice my streak and 12 visits saved from last round to grind that forum and try to get the peen when it’s easily obtainable. I even planned to explore forums with my army of alts to find out which forums give the most fans but I guess there’s no need to do that anymore.

Tell me more. I glanced through the E-peen list but didn’t notice anything new. I have now opened up ANOTHER space on my ’ Forever out of your reach but ye ken dream’ peen shelf. My label gun is ready.

You’re clearly not a hacker IRL.

“Floor” isn’t a FW term, it’s a programming term. Floor is the next lowest integer. Basically it means you round down.

Not to mention the Fans lost equation which has it stop losing Fans after a certain streak. Why you’d have to plan out the exact order of your Forums after a grindfest to get optimal Fan gain on top of getting lucky with perfect Thread counts and no status effects when it takes more than one hit, and random damages dealing max amounts… Planning is actually rather important to hit the top even with the minor other fluctuations.

The Leaderboard is actually more attainable than others and since streaks eventually reset, it’s impossible to flagpole sit. There will be a lot of turnover on the boards even if Trolls get the top overall all the time.
