Voting in a non-voting situation – 1. The broken equipment result is as it should be. 2. The upgrade point situation has long been in need of a fix. 3. The leaderboard situation is a minor matter, but I also find it quite annoying every time I look at it – it’s just something that shouldn’t be that way. |

Easy fix for the upgrades:
Just give us a ****in’ skill tree. It would alert us when we get our next skill in the line, and would prevent all jumping around. |

Also, there’s huge sync problems with some browsers. I use Chrome dev-channel, and the numbers (damage, e tc) keep coming long after I’ve stopped pressing bumons. |

Somehow I don’t think that changing the code to support one of the unsupported browsers, when the supported ones are freely available, is high on the priority list. |

But why should I use Firefox just because Opera 10 isn’t supported? 9.64 worked fine, but FW complains about 10. Granted, it’s easy to mask the user-agent with Opera, but actually having code stating that such-and-such browser isn’t supported (unless it’s ludicrously old) is…ludicrously old. Welcome to 1997. Here’s your Netscape 3.0 on CD. |

I actually tried using it using the mask as firefox option. It crashed in forum mid-attack
I regret challenging the authority on this

Because there’s only so much time to do things, and making new and exciting things is a better business idea than spending coding time to support every browser out there? |

The bruce bear thing is supposed to work that way. If you knew of the penalty before starting your visit, nobody would ever be penalized. The idea is to stay on top of your stuff.
As for the upgrades / moar things. Yes, I hate both.
The issue with prioritizing is when something works “well enough” it isn’t as high as something broken. There have been things with the UI I haven’t liked for years, but just haven’t had a good excuse to fix them. Sometimes when I go in to fix or upgrade an unrelated thing that’s a higher priority I also fix it.
For example, have you ever noticed duplicate thread titles when entering a forum? It’s annoying but didn’t affect gameplay. With the gameplay upgrade, I finally fixed that bug after 2+ years of existing.
So yeah, I’m aware, and I hope to get around to them soon. I will try to squeeze some of them into Ep3. |

I’m sure a few people wouldn’t mind if you took -some- time out of EP3 to try and make some stuff easier for users. Upgrade points and such.
I wouldn’t anyway. CrinkzPipe edited this message on 09/03/2009 12:02PM |

I noticed that on my first few visits. Very annoying and it looked kind of dumb. Thanks for the fix trout. |

Firefox supports the current version. Safari 4 is out, but only since June so it’s not *that* outdated. Does anyone seriously still use IE? (Glancing at percentages of users, it would probably make more sense to support Chrome than Safari though). Regarding Opera, why waste tons of time building support for a browser a whopping 2% or so people use?
Since I’ve started playing it’s been recommended that you use Firefox, this is not a new “hey guys we’re not gonna support x browser anymore”. If you really want to play use one of the supported browsers for your visits or just take the crap that gets hurled at you when you’re using a different one. |

MC Banhammer Posted:If it’s standards-compliant: it supports every browser. Well—except for IE.
I’m not trying to **** and moan; I’m just saying that putting in a user-agent check which doesn’t include a standards-compliant browser reminds me of the days when the merits of the *blink* tag were debated. Way back in 1996/7.

DD5, I look at the convenient little bars in the bottom right of the page, I’ve given up on the big numbers. I also notice that Chrome works perfectly with FW in all major aspects (except greasemonkey support, but I can use about 50% of the scripts)
