At least from the store description, it seems like they’d be the snobby kind of shop-owners to do that.
I think it’d be a good way to reward buildr participation, instead of more submissions I don’t wind up using ad infinitum. ShadyPixels edited this message on 03/17/2009 12:23AM |

Huh, it’s a pretty interesting idea, but of course I have a high score so I’m biased. |

This.
Or you could make it even more unbalanced by giving a discount based on your buildrscore.
It would actually be interesting to have your buildrscore affect the itembuildr items in some way. |

I’m not sure but there should be a limited number of items in the store, especially moar files. The nature of moar files is to be dropped from forums, but now it’s changing and I think the unlimited number of moar files will destroy the moar market. |

So um, if you haven’t got a good buildr score already, how do you get a good one now? The down voting that happens at the moment makes it impossible to get a decent score unless you only submit absolute gold but you tend to use all your submissions and have no idea what people will like. Also people just blindly downvoting will ruin any half decent attempt in a day or so, making it virtually impossible to get a good score. |

Is the rampant downvoting really such a big problem as everyone says?
Well, I guess I’ll find out during this week, since this is the first time I’m seriously taking part in forumbuildr in a few months… |

This.
Also, what if you aren’t good at writing? Thus, you will never get a high buildr score. |

Yeah, you have to be REALLY good or really “popular” to get a good score right now. |

I for one, am not funny enough for either buildr, nor can I use paint/photoshop, so I would be screwed. |

The stylebuildr removes any real advantage an actual web designer might have over you. Be able to pick decent colours that match the logo, and you can win that. |

Bad idea. I don’t like the idea of exclusivity of in-game purchases based upon a meta-game factor. Even though I have a decently high buildr score (I’m in the top 40) and I run a Kyoubai shop, I wouldn’t want to see this happen. |

The latter’s more truthful, a lot of the higher score ones are utter garbage. |

I don’t think this is a good idea, for the simple reason that if a certain buildr score were required to access in-game content, everybody would feel obligated to use all of their 7 submissions per week, which would result in even more work for everybody else in order to separate the good ideas from the chaff. Not only that, but if “not having a good enough buildr score” would cut people off from in-game content people would get more bumhurt if/when their submissions are downvoted/not accepted.
Not only that, but having a buildr score requirement to use the co-op, would mean the shop is less effective as a flezz sink, since there would be fewer of these items created, and what the game really needs now is not “less efficient flezz sinks.” |

I would support a very, very low threshold, that being:
* All players can view the contents of the shop, to ogle the shiny goods, but may not buy until earning it, by the following. * All a player has to do to get access is, during any week, raise their buildr score by +1. This is not very hard at all, but encourages trying one’s hand at participation, in order to access the shinies. * After the player has raised their score by +1, they permanently have access, regardless of how high or low their score goes after that. |
