I disagree.

Scully, now that I think about it I really don’t care. Now that is not to say that my opinion has changed or is not sincere. It just means that I don’t have any reason that I disagree. Other than I don’t think there should be a epeen for it.

That is completely valid, and I personally thought that all the leaderboards should have been retired when ep 2 hit.

I have two reasons for bringing it up. The first is that if it is going to happen now makes sense. Things have settled, we are not seeing wild back and forth movement. ET announced in idc the day that the auction house opened that there would be peens and that they would be implemented once the initial frenzy settled.

I don’t think it would be terribly fair to pbum on it after encouraging players to devote serious time and effort to competing for the promised peen.

The other reason is that I believe it will help reduce some of the flagged for abuse auctions. (That is of course pure speculation and hinges on whether those in the top spots will keep on with their wacky bidding wars once they grab the peen.)

Plus it’s a bit odd to have peens for all the other leaderboards, but skip a couple.

He has been experimenting to see which would be the best way to introduce the leaderboards and the peens, but so far there has been no reasonable solution, and probably there will be no leaderboard peens, but only milestone peens.

Your logic is flawed. How many peen whores dedicated enough to work for weeks for a peen do you think this site has? Certainly not enough to buy and sell crap for the leaderboards like you think and almost nobody else would buy this stuff. Remember you have to sell your stuff to and buy from different people. ATM best auctioneer is at 854 and best bidder at 1348. Especially best auctioneer will be very hard to top, it’s not easy to sell you stuff to hundreds of players. You have to sell stuff people actually want and believe me, they don’t want useless crap. Most of my failed auctions were either cheap junk or useless moar files, so I pretty much stopped to offer them.

As for best bidder it is only relevant to buy from a lot of people and you have to buy what they offer, useful or not, if you haven’t bought from them before. The only effect you have on the market is that new users of Kyoubai might sell the only item they offer for ridiculously high prices due to bidding wars but I doubt that they would complain about that.

I’m pretty sure we would see much more rubbish in Kyoubai with milestone peens, because they would motivate much more people who would otherwise (rightfully) think they’d have no chance to top the leaderboards ever to flood the auction house with crap…

Obviously your useless crap don’t sell much for now because you are selling thousands of items while there are only a dozen players going for the bidder epeen. Believe me when the leaderboard peens are introduced you’ll see hundreds or even thousands of people going for them while they’re still in obtainable range.

The more people offer crap the less they are able to sell it because the other peen whores would only buy one item from them. Also the stuff I sell is only partly the stuff I’ve bought in Kyoubai. I sell the useless crap I’ve bought there in the Ppwn Shoppe, spamming Kyoubai with it would only be a waste of time.

Right now I despise the entire leaderboard system (mainly for the flezz peen, but the auction peen is another perfect example of how painfully flawed it is) It’s not fun, it encourages people, as Inertia here, to waste huge amounts of time on a pointless endeavour, with no possible reward. How can that be justified in any shape or form? I’d really, really like for ET to wake up and stop doing it. Bad game design choices are things you’re supposed to learn from, fix, and *not* repeat, not just carry on with because it’s easier.

Milestone peen would be gauged accordingly. Selling stuff would end at a low number (maybe 20?) to limit spamming. Milestone peen for buying stuff could be higher, but again not too high (or buyers would then be encouraging potential sellers to spam) Something to get people started with Kyoubai, but not to dominate it with pointless listings, and pointless bids for otherwise useless items. And lets have a few more items with a bit more variety.
