Pr0n doesn’t hurt anyone now does it? At least you don’t deprive yourself of one of the strongest psychological drives in existence. Is the experience tainted by your belief you’ve done something “wrong”? |

I wish I could say I avoid it altogether, except that every now and then I still mess up. As far as doing something wrong, Paul says in 1 Corinthians that everything is permissible, but not everything is beneficial.
Porn might not be explicitly wrong on its own (though the lust it tends to foster is), but it’s certainly not beneficial. As a result of this, I do my best to avoid it.
It’s actually one of the reasons I’m considering stopping FW, because there’s so much porn that I wind up seeing in sigs/gifs/posts.
Celerysteve, I don’t even follow what you said in that post. I’ll bumume it was a biting comeback that I just didn’t understand. |

Why would you deny yourself something pleasurable that is not harmful? It’s just a religious issue? P.S. – Just avoid the RP forums if you’re that averse to it. ’
Certainly not beneficial? It can help people become more ‘creative’ in relationships is one example where it can… DarkDespair5 edited this message on 02/04/2009 6:02PM |

Because, porn is addictive. I’m unlucky enough to have a very addictive personality, and if I give anything, whether it’s alcohol, drugs, porn, fetishes, etc. a chance, then I get drug way down into it.
It tends to drag my spiritual life down, and since it’s nothing necessary, I choose to ignore it.
EDIT: Avoiding the RP forums is kind of difficult, lol. That’s the only place any entertaining discussions take place.
EDIT AGAIN: Trust me; I’m MORE than deviant enough to be creative just fine. Shii edited this message on 02/04/2009 6:03PM |

That’s extremely unlucky. Your self-restraint will probably save you from the extremes of both pleasure and pain.
EDIT: Heh, you probably are, but you can’t have too many ideas =P DarkDespair5 edited this message on 02/04/2009 6:07PM |

I’ve already been arrested for drugs, thankfully before it got too out-of-hand, so God kicked me out of downward spiral there. I stopped drinking too.
As far as extremes of pleasure or pain, I plan to fully experience both when I’m married (though that might not happen, touring makes relationships kind of hard.) But yeh, like I said about the deviance, I have a pretty good idea of what the extremes feel like.
I just try to struggle against it, because it absolutely consumes me if I don’t. And God doesn’t want that for me. |

Oh man, I know this all too well. As an atheist, I don’t have a God to rely on to help me out, so I just stay away from drugs and alcohol and such on my own, though. I can honestly say I have never smoked, drank or used drugs. Despite living in Holland, too.
I likes my porn, though. Hentai, preferably, but whatever. I’m not going to deny my body everything. Just the stuff that can really harm it. My worst ‘addiction’ at this point is probably sugar. |

Yeah, it certainly is hard, resisting all these drugs and alcohol without any god to scare me into doing so. Good thing I’ve never really wanted to do something that harmful to my body in the first place.
But porn? **** yeah porn.
Shii Posted:
Why is lust wrong? Because a book cobbled together from texts transcribed from the oral traditions of pre-clbumical brigands says so? Or is it something to do with the part where a (probably fictional) son of a carpenter figured out that almost the only way he could DO anything with his life was to convince the pre-deluded mbumes that he was the son of said brigands war god?
Ah well, at least the Jesus myth got people to stop sacrificing sheep. So that’s something.
There’s nothing inherently wrong with feeling sexual desire. It is simply a natural part of the way the human body functions. Unless acted upon in a negative way (enjoy, pedophilia etc) it harms no one. Lust is not “bad”. Hence, porn is not “bad”. Lord Shplane edited this message on 02/04/2009 7:35PM |

I don’t mock and put down your beliefs. Please don’t respond likewise to mine.
Furthermore, I have never, and will never, deny myself something because God is “scaring me into being good.”
I choose willingly to try to abstain from these sort of activities because God’s blessed me so much that to disobey Him in something so trivial would be an absolute smack to His face.
And yes, I’m a furry, I’m a deviant, I’m a total sinner. Being a Christian doesn’t mean you’re perfect. I’m aware of my deviances and tastes and I’m not going to deny they exist, but I’m likewise not going to go out and have a party and indulge in every single one of them.

QFT. Lust acted on in a positive way is very beneficial, heh. Although Shii’s argument seems to me to stem more from the effects of addictive things on him rather than religion. DarkDespair5 edited this message on 02/05/2009 2:32PM |

I didn’t know the Bible disallowed you to be a furry…
I thought the only thing it is against is relations outside of marriage, and sex where only one of the partners have fun…
I may be wrong, though |
