why does it give the deposit back when the item sells? shouldn’t it give the deposit back when the item does not sell? |

I know but it doesn’t make sense. Isn’t this the fee for using the auctionhouse? If my item doesn’t sell then the auctionhouse did a bad job, why am I paying it? Shouldn’t I pay when they actually do a service to me?
Also then because the deposit is returned if the item sells you can also use ruses such as setting buyout price ridiculously high so it looks like your item is worth a lot. And setting the minimum price so high that the Auction starts at the level you want. Both of these things also makes it easier for people to transfer flezz between accounts because it would only require 2 people instead of 3 to set this up. |

Er, back on topic, I see where Inertia is coming from. The idea of a deposit or transfer fee makes sense for real world online auctions. The auction house has to make money based on usage of the site, not necessarily the specific transaction amount. IMO, it should work like this for Kyoubai:
To list a transaction, you have to pay a deposit fee (calculated based on minimum bid & reserve OR buyout, not both) If the item does not sell, Kyoubai keeps this deposit fee as compensation. Failed auctions are harmful to Kyoubai’s reputation, so this encourages Sellers to list auctions with reasonable buyouts and reserves. If the item does sell, then Kyoubai refunds the deposit (minus 0.1% of the item’s final selling price as a transaction fee)
In other words, Kyoubai should be seeing a cut of all transactions, good or bad, as a fee for use of the service. |

This. Details I don’t care about, but the use of the service should always result in Flezz being drained out of the economy. |

So there’s this rare item that I want to sell but I don’t want to sell for less than say 4 mil. I could put a reserve price on it but it might not sell within 72 hours. So for every day it doesn’t sell I lose money. Shouldn’t I be free to sell at whatever price I wish? |

Signed. Nothing wrong about an additional Log in to see images! sink. You can either let Kyoubai keep the deposit no matter if the item is sold or not or you can let it take a small part of the final bid (like 1-3%). Also you could add some kind of additional fee for failed auctions.
Also I think that the fees are too small. They might be appropriate for low-tier items, but they’re way too small for decent .moar files. |
