There couldn’t be segmented, separate backdrops? What about the models of our universe suggesting the universe itself wraps around in a complex pattern when you reach the endpoints, simulating infinity? DarkDespair5 edited this message on 12/07/2008 10:02PM |

DarkDespair5 Posted: How would they interact? As for the universe wrapping around on itself, that simply means the universe is finite and non-bounded. OverclockedJesus edited this message on 12/07/2008 10:06PM |

what? apparently you know all the answers to basic questions about existence and the universe, i’m just saying maybe you should spread the wealth, submit your theories and such |

If you viewed a square and a circle along the z-axis, they would look identical. If I told you one of them was a square circle, could you prove me wrong? I know you could offer definitions to prove me wrong, but could you actually confirm that I hadn’t drawn a square circle? Could you actually know without seeing it from all directions, without being able to fully observe it? |

BirdofPrey Posted: Just saying that you clearly think that I think that I know all the answers. I’m just wondering where I said that. Because, you know, I haven’t. And I’ve never claimed it.
So why don’t you take your over-reaction and go find a place to rage against your own epic fail. |

If you can set arbitrary constraints on the universe I can break them and set my own. Answer the damn question. |

oh i dunno maybe it was the past 50 posts where you’ve so glibly uttered, with complete certainty, statements about existence and the universe that you may as well have pulled out of your bum? |

How is a circle not still a circle when viewed from the side? What arbitrary rules are you following? |

Other than the “Oh **** I dont know how to answer that I’ll just make something up to change the subject” rules. |

DarkDespair5 Posted: Irrelevant, though, especially since they are 2D shapes with specific definitions. I want to see how he can make a square circle, given that the definitions of each preclude it. Clearly, you can’t have something be both an equilateral quadrilateral with all interior angles as right angles and also be the locus of all points equidistant from a central point at the same time. It’s just not possible.

OverclockedJesus Posted:
What about folds in space/time that would allow continuity and yet altered laws of physics? If the universe folds upon itself, several constants of the universe would cease to be constant at long distances. This hypothesis (I first saw in a sci magazine) would solve many of the odd problems that seem to defy explanation. |

If your only vantage point of my square circle was from dead-on the z-axis, could you prove that I hadn’t drawn one? |
