Pictures don’t seem to do it, and newlines just annoy me because I have to try to find the end in between the next person who quoted the newlines(like always happens.) But there should be a serious limit to how many emoticons someone can use per post.. seriously no one needs more than like 50 in a post.

Emoticons are actually converted to image tags in the HTML, which is why they’re such an exploit. It’s like being able to flood with pictures without even needing to spend five characters on an (img) opening tag. So with two characters – ”<” and “3”, you can output 86 bytes in the post – and a ****load of processing on the server.

I dunno… seemed like the rest of the site was running faster than the pages with the smiley spam. You know, the “Waiting for forumwarz.com” part, before it starts loading the page. Especially sending the reports – that took about 10 seconds alone (and they seem to have gone ignored).
