Ah, so it’s not really any different than the one I’m familiar with.
Zak drops the lantern, only able to hope it doesn’t break (it probably will knowing my rolling luck), pulls out the Black Kestrel and moves in with a +1 Power Attack on the closest goblin. |

You know the old saying: Insane necromancers before narcissistic thieves. |

Commence insane necromancer hurriedly casting magic missile at the first kobold he sees. |

He sneak attacks the first kobold he sees. It’s a good thing that he’s back here with his bow, instead of leading the way. Luck of the rogue, I guess. genericangstyposter edited this message on 12/07/2007 1:46AM |

Kobold. Log in to see images!
The lantern drops to the cobbled floor with a dull ring, but you don’t spare it even a pbuming glance; already you’re moving with a speed born of long experience. You can almost feel the Kestrel writhe beneath your fingers in anticipation as you swing the halberd at the kobold’s head, and hear the halberd scream with delight as it takes the head clean off.
To the other two: you don’t see any other kobolds right now. Anyone volunteering to |

Yeah well, you said goblin. Kobolds aren’t goblins, at least not anymore. I read that part of Races of the Dragon, I should know. |

Sorry, got caught up in some work. Anyway, Adin is going to dig out his dagger just in case. He calls down the hall, “having any trouble?” |

Zak looks up, raising the Black Kestrel. “Nope, everything’s A-OK right now.” It feels good to kill something again. Briefly he wonders if his lantern is all right. For some reason he always really liked that lantern. |

The lantern’s fine, if a little dented. Thankfully the tinder hasn’t caught yet; neither has the oil leaked from the central drum. With a bit of patience you might just be able to restore it to its pristine condition. |

Your voice is unnaturally loud in the empty pit… which, you realise a little belatedly, forms a natural echo chamber. Within seconds you hear a startled yelp come from the pbumageway and the sounds of clawed feet scrambling back down the way it came from.
Think fast, children. Looks like you may have to face the kobold horde after all… |

“Oh… ****.” says Zak. “Run!” |

Never one to question the screams of someone saying “run”, Adin turns and sprints for the spiral staircase. |

Zak grabs his lantern and follows, glancing back to see if anyone’s coming after them. |

Jason bolts down the hallway, trying his best to be in between the two other adventurers. |

You race up the staircase, your heart pounding in your chest even as you flee the pit. Behind you, the sounds of the kobold mob seems to be starting up into a full orchestrated cacophony: you would turn and look, but you’re not too sure if it’s a good idea to run up the stairs while looking behind you.
Jason and Adin: Strangely enough, even though the noise is starting to swell, you don’t hear any weapons being drawn or even any sounds of movement towards you. Just as quickly, though, the sound dies down, and all is silent save for the beating of your hearts. You think you’re safe, at least for now. The pit is now below and behind you, and you’re back on the landing where you initially started. |

Noticing the silence, Zak turns around to see what’s going on. |

Perhaps Adin can think of a spell that might cause this effect?

Night Gaunt Posted: Not that you know of. It seems like they are not giving pursuit, though you’re pretty sure they know of your existence and possible trespbum into their little cesspit of hell. That, or mbum invisibility and a very good Silence spell. But seriously: they’re kobolds, for Xammux’s sake. Not exactly a race known for their mighty magical powers or intellect, for that matter. eponymous_ennui edited this message on 12/15/2007 10:14PM |
