Rerolling forums - Should something be changed?Honestly anyone who is trying to compete for max cred is going to use whatever is the optimal forum thread count possible. Of course that makes for a boring character as you spend time rerolling meme until you get 14 threads 4 times. It generally means you only run other threads when you are prepping to gain one of the new epeens.
I don’t really think it’s a problem but it might make people leave the game in the long term if they get bored grinding every day.

Incit and Interface additions are nice, but...Honestly I figure with the end of the semester a bunch of the high school and college aged players will be going on a hiatus. As for 2.0 it appears Jalapeno is already working on the writing part and Trout is working on the coding. Domination is still a mbumive issue but I believe some fixes for AF are coming down the pipe in the near future.
In sort while I’d love new content I’m content to grind and play around with forumbuildr and incit as well as Roleplay in IDC and flamebate.
There is plenty to do you just need to broaden your horizons some. (view post) |

How do I not fail at incit?Honestly don’t try to compete every round. Go in ascertain what seems to be the best sort of joke for the current audience. Sometimes it will be highbrow, other times it will be iteration 200304992 of 4chan meme, and sometimes it will be the sickest most graphic **** you can plug into 70 characters.
Post a few winners when you get the inspiration and then get out because a) Incit is ****ing addictive and will destroy your productivity on other parts of the game and RL and b) your **** will get weak after about 30min-1hr of solid gameplay. (view post) |

A very SERIOUS discussion about Antifreeze Scoops. Seriously.It seems like a decent percentage of the problems with Antifreeze can be rectified with changing either the ratio of winning bets to scoops from 2:1 to maybe 10:1 (Sure some people would still get crazy scoops but dealing with 200 AF scoops is far easier than dealing with 1000). Another option would be to only deliver AFs on blackjacks. That would reduce the allure of AF scoops for domination play significantly.
Of course that would only increase the relative value of Klan Vanilla which might require a further nerfing of that ruleset.
The other solution would be to determine the maximum number of scoops that can be won in the Pistachio and Yellow categories and create hardcaps on the other scoops types = to that total. So in theory bumuming you had 12 yellow visits banked at the beginning of a Domination session you could at most get 40 Visits x 3 For Incredible Speed = 120 Yellow scoops during any given Domination Period. Under this system I’d probably increase the amount of pistachio scoops given to better match the maximum amount of yellow possible.
Altogether this would make an absolute maximum weekly count of scoops earned of 600 scoops. Considering the unlikelihood of anyone being able to max out all 5 categories this would seem to be more than enough to determine who the best player is in any given week. (view post) |

How can we encourage players to participate in Flamebate?I’m going to treat this like a serious question since it’s in Game Discussions
Basically you need to convince people that the flamebate community adds something to the rest of the gaming experience. I venture that the vast majority of people come and pwn forums and only really check flamebate and the wiki when they are stuck and need help.
Further I would venture a guess that most of the people in flamebate already have a Bulletin Board they already visit for most of their other interests.

PSST!!!! BigGuyInBlack!!!!No the flamebate counter is unique number of people that have responded to any thread you have started.
Thus if I’ve ever responded to an L2 thread I only ever count as 1 unique respondent.

I would have to concur with this point as it definitely seems that the rewards are not necessarily being shared evenly across all of the raiders in a klan. Further it seems that despite the temptation to backstab it’s more profitable to arrange multi-person scoop ties among multiple klan members.
One possible solution (albiet quite nasty) would be to eliminate all scoop ties entirely. Without ties (or even if you reduced ties from 5-way to 3-way or even 2-way) the game becomes far more cutthroat and the temptation to screw over competitors in your own clan is dramatically increased.
It really becomes about a single player being able to dominate all competition rather than a cooperative team sport. (view post) |

Seriously.Honestly I don’t take domination too seriously so I don’t really feel personally invested in the problem or any potential solutions but I do think it’s relatively obvious that the AF and Klan Vanilla systems basically lock anyone not in a competitive clan out of the domination hunt.
Antifreeze has been an issue for a while and eventually it will probably receive a nerfing of some sort. Maybe that will be a hard cap in the number of AF scoops you can gain in a week or changing the payout from one AF every 2 successful 1000 bets to once every 5 or even 10 successful bets.
That would encourage people to gamble within their means rather than continually risk their entire pot of on a desperate attempt to scratch out another AF scoop.
I think the vanilla raid system still needs quite a bit of work but that is a discussion for another day. (view post) |
