Friend or Foe (2 BP)Alright. I have now consulted a certain random number generator website, which gave me a 3 and a 1, indicating that the third and the first poster are the lucky participants.
Tesfan and ghax, you have a chance to get these BP. However, each one of you must send me a tubmail containing the word “friend” or “foe”. If both choose “friend”, you will both get one brownie point. If one chooses “foe”, however, he will get the entire prize. Finally, if both choose “foe”, neither of you will receive anything.
I’ll be waiting, so take your time. Log in to see images! (view post) |

I remember when Blizzard used to be coolIt is a big deal because it shifts the ownership of the game from you to Blizzard. When everything in Starcraft goes through Battle.net, Blizzard has full control of your game. If for some reason they feel like canceling your Battle.net account, they can do that and you won’t be able to play multiplayer anymore. (view post) |

I remember when Blizzard used to be coolWhen I purchased The Spirit Engine 2, I got an installer file with the game in it. No DRM at all, nothing. I was actually treated like a customer and not a potential thief. Yes, I do believe online activation is a blight on PC gaming and it’s one of the reasons why I don’t buy PC games from major companies anymore. If I want to play a flashy 3D action game, I’ll do it on a console, because consoles are vastly superior in terms of customer treatment. The game always works, there’s no risk of getting SecuROM or any similar bull****, if the company goes bankrupt I still have the game, and I can resell it whenever I want to. (view post) |

9th and HennepinIt’s 9th and Hennepin, All the doughnuts have names that sound like prostitutes, And the moon’s teeth marks are in the sky, like a tarp thrown all over this. And broken umbrellas like dead birds, the steam comes out of the grill like the whole Goddamned town is ready to blow. And the bricks are all scarred with jailhouse tattoos, And everyone is behaving like dogs. And horses are coming down Violin Road, Dutch is dead on his feet, And all the rooms, they smell like diesel and you take on the dreams of the ones who slept there. And I’m lost in the window, and I hide in the stairway, I hang in the curtain and I sleep in your hat. And no one brings anything small into a bar around here. They all started out with bad directions. And the girl behind the counter has a tattooed tear, one for every year he’s away, she said. Such a crumbly beauty… there’s nothing wrong with her a hundred dollars won’t fix. She has that razor sadness that only gets worse with the clang and the thunder of the Southern Pacific going by, And the clock ticks out like a dripping faucet, ‘til you’re full of ragwater, bitters and blue ruin. And you spill out over the side to anyone who’ll listen. I’ve seen it all. I’ve seen it all through the yellow windows of the evening train. (view post) |

Your Favorite Games of all timeTo be fair, the battles in Torment could’ve been better, the locations after Sigil felt a little rushed and playing it on modern computers is problematic due to its low resolution and some graphical bugs. That said… it still has the best written story in any video game I’ve ever played, and is probably the only game I would consider to have literary value outside of gaming. (view post) |

The Bartle Test for gamers93% achiever, 13% socializer; no surprise there. I’ve taken this type of test before.
What I found interesting was the question “What is more important in an MMO: More people, or more areas to explore?” The first option is heart and the second is spade, of course. But both of them are good for an achiever. More areas to explore translates to more items/monsters/etc, while more people means more competition. I chose “more people” in the end, which means I probably got socializer points for it, when in fact I mostly view the other players in an MMO as competition. (view post) |

Favorite Video-Game WeaponsSting and Needle. +120 to hit and +60 damage, in each hand, on a spellcaster PC. That’s not even with aggressive tactics enabled; I’m sure you could sacrifice some DV for even more ridiculous to-hit and damage. (view post) |

Court jails Pirate Bay foundersI know I’m a bit late to the party since I haven’t really paid any attention to Forumwarz in the last month, but I’m going to clear some things up anyway since I am here in Sweden and have been following the trial since the beginning.
First off, the title of this thread is incorrect. The founders of TPB have not been jailed yet. In Sweden, a verdict does not become lawful until all appeals have been processed, and the district court (Stockholms Tingsrätt) is just the first step of the ladder. Furthermore it has been revealed that the judge was biased due to being a member of the pro-copyright organization SFU (Svenska föreningen för upphovsrätt) together with the prosecution, so a retrial may be allowed.
Secondly, the trial wasn’t all bad. It dramatically increased awareness of the file-sharing issue in the public, and subsequently the Pirate Party’s membership has skyrocketed. At this point they actually have a chance to get a seat in the European Parliament. I am not making this up!
Anyway, what I’m saying is, don’t whine about the verdict. It doesn’t mean anything. The Internets will survive. File sharing will survive. Even the Pirate Bay itself will probably survive. Meanwhile, the ranks of the Pirates continue to swell. And if the lawmakers of Sweden decide that “bumisting making available copyrighted content” is illegal, which is exactly what every search engine on the Internet is doing, we’ll change the ****ing laws. Why was the re-re av changed?xX_73h_1337_m0d3r470r_Xx Posted:This. If someone would stop playing a game because of some slightly distasteful image in it, they don’t belong in Forumwarz. By removing Jimmy from the intro you’re just trying to get people to play Forumwarz who aren’t as hard to offend as they claim to be, and they’re bound to get “squicked” by something later, be it the Feces forum or the KKK or whatever. ~~~steam indie game sale~~~I don’t have Steam, but I read about this sale on TIGSource and checked the list of games.
...there’s not a very large price difference (10%? Seriously?) and most of those games don’t interest me at all. The only game I’m considering buying is Braid, and it’s not even released yet.
If I were to recommend a recent indie title, it would be The Spirit Engine 2, although that’s not on Steam so I guess it’s not relevant to this topic. (view post) |

Don't Look Back [Kongregate]It was boring.
WoweeZowee Posted: Then you haven’t played a lot of free games. I’m sorry but even free games need more content than just “keep walking to the right until you have to go back all the way again”. Even if you think of it as an “art game” (which is one of the ****tiest game genres in my opinion) it still pales in comparison to other atmospheric platformers like Knytt or Within A Deep Forest.
