Roleplay is only good in small amounts every once in a while. If everyone’s on rp alts doing it constantly it becomes like *yawn* “this is boring. this is literally the same thing these did yesterday. boy that got old fast” and that will happen every day. so basically what you are talking about implementing will be a place where what might have been somewhat not terrible roleplay will be overdone and diluted to the point where no one will post there, or those who do will post terribly.

Roleplay along with most of this site is dead anyways so you’ll just waste your time. But go ahead I wont stop you, maybe it will help this site die quicker lol.

What you guys are forgetting is that actual serious roleplay on other sites involves storylines.

It’s not just people talking in character, it’s people in character playing out drama and epics with each other.

Sure, some roleplaying involves being your character in chat, that’s fine and it has its place. But nothing but that style of rp is what gets boring fast. If we’re seriously roleplaying, it would involves introductions, plot twists, like, actual redeeming entertainment value.

That’s why I thought when JB said ‘subforum’ that he meant ‘secret subforum’ that you could only get access too if you’re invited, and access can be revoked. That way the good posters/rpers can play around in it without worrying about joe troll ruining their great storyline or tear-jerking melodrama.

Forumwarz is even better suited to the epic style of rp than normal forums because everyone has devoted and dedicated alt accounts specifically for roleplaying. You can actually BE your character Malone O’Sleazy in the story rather than being EpicPwn3r829 playing his role as hardened detective Malone O’Sleazy. More immersive.

I strongly support the addition of this forum as a secret subforum. Or at least a public subforum only some can post in. That way people can read them (if they want.)

I enjoyed the storyline Governor was started; in fact, I was planning on releasing some damning evidence about the recent Goatse 14 fiasco, but as it appears our intrepid leader has gone into hiding following the ‘LubeGate’ affair, it’ll just have to wait.

I agree with this.

There’s nothing wrong with a public forum, if someone gives bad RP the clear answer is to just ignore their posts in the hopes they’ll be shamed into not posting anymore.

Oh, sorry. I guess I must’ve missed where you added your own stunning and contributive ideas. I would’ve certainly looked to them first for inspiration prior to my post.

You seem to be bumuming that this will be nothing but intensely strict and heavy-handed favoritism. If you want an invite to the forum, ask for one and you get one. Most people who don’t like or want to read people trying to rp won’t really want in, and if people do, they can get in.

If someone acts like they want in, then ****s the place up with shock and whatnot, they get kicked out again. I mean, it’s hardly the ridiculous “Oh I didn’t make the cut so I must be OF LESS VALUE Log in to see images!” you’re playing it up to be. It’s not like “You must be THIS GOOD of an rper to make it in.”

Your condescension is very productive, might I add. And while you might not have a bunch of alts to throw around, a very large percentage of the forum community here do. And seriously, so what if they can’t use other alts? My point was that a lot of people having them lends itself well to roleplay. Please, do enumerate what “serious roleplaying forum” communities you’ve actually been a part of, and then I’ll address that.

Essentially, it’ll work for about a month, and then just become more RP with a very ambiguous difference, which people will all interpret differently. Even when it does work, it’ll be pretty much uninteresting; all the threads people pay attention to in RP are the ones that get personal about semi-irl ****. If you read RP you know nothing goes over 2 pages otherwise. This won’t be Advanced RP, it’ll be more like diet RP and it will suck.

I kind of explained what should be done in my last post. Never mind the one sentence with the size 30 font, it seemed funny at the time, but doing that kind of ruined my otherwise serious post.
