I didn’t see the Foundation series mentioned.

The Thing is a p great movie, get it and see it. Smartest horror movie I’ve seen.

Of COURSE get Alien and Aliens (and stop there). Starship Troopers. Robocop. Twelve Monkeys. I’m a HUGE fan of that whole era of decadent ‘80s science fiction. Love the king of trash directors, Paul Verhoven.

Signing Dan Simmons, he’s p awesome, read Ilium and Olympos, smart as hell and funny, also signing Frank Herbert (dune).

That’ll do for now, can’t think of too many who haven’t been mentioned. Oh, wait, who’s the writer who wrote Half Life? He’s probably p good for scifi. Marc Laidlaw, that’s him.

Oh, and here’s one you can watch right now, the strange, wonderful, hilarious Russian Sci-fi masterwork Kin Dza Dza: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2251461878127683608

I took a look at this and it’s pretty nice, thanks. Is there any way to search for an author besides paging through the 30 pages and looking to see if they have anything?

I also don’t know if I’ll be able to focus on my screen to read the same way I do a book, but I’ll give it a shot some time.

there is a search function if you go to the hompage I believe.

It seemed more like it would have been for searching for the different channels like bookschan instead of finding stuff in them. I tried it and didn’t really get anything. I did find that Stephen King area on like page 6, but it seemed like I should have been able to find an easier way. Of course, to find it, I had to start at the last page (30) and work my way forward when it would have been faster to go from 1-6.

well at least it was 30 pages of good books instead of 30 pages of old memes and cam whores.

The Wizard of Oz was a political allegory first and foremost. Any SF elements are purely coincidental.

Servotron

Man or Astro-Man?

Powerman 5000, from “Tonight the Stars Revolt!” through “Anyone For Doomsday” had a strong sci-fi, cyberpunk feel.

Crystal Castles (particularly “Xxzxcuzx Me” )

Behold…the Arctopus

And for a few general, heavily electronica bands:

Grendel

Psyclon9

Justice

Aphex Twin

Good future episodes

New Earth

Gridlock

Thats all I can currently think of

Mr. Bear, you need to watch some of the older episodes. The Inferno was the episode that brought Evil Dopplegangers With Eyepatches onto the scene. The Happiness Patrol is cheesy as ****, but a good look at how science fiction can lampoon the present.

As for sci-fi that will impress your teacher, somebody already mentioned The Prisoner. Crossed is a good comic that will make the victims of a zombie outbreak seem lucky in comparison. The Fifth Element is a fun movie and again lampoons the time it was made in.

Those people are epic-very special.

On the lines of SciFi, I would suggest a book called Blade Dancer.

It has to do with space travel, killing, mercenaries, androids, aliens and a few other things.

Btw,

Utopia – a futuristic civilization in which things appear to be ‘good’

Dystopia – a futuristic civilization in which things appear to be ‘bad’

I learned that in the tenth ****ing grade, how did these people get into college?

It’s probably a community college he’s going to. And our education system is in the ****ter, so the fact you learned anything in tenth grade says something about your character. In any case, you would be surprised at who falls through the cracks and goes on to get a degree. It’s hard work and steady cash that makes it happen more than anything else involved. Hell, even Stephenie Meyer is running around with one of those things.

Oh dear lord! Please tell me your joking. Why hasn’t someone committed justifiable homicide on that woman yet?
