Desecrating Ghax's CorpseDelete his self-esteem, his klan, and downvote all his INCIT wins. Then downvote all his FlameBate posts. Fill his TubMail with “WWWWWWWW…”. Delete his wiki submissions. Burn him in effigy. Defriend him on @social_networking_site. Kickban him from every IRC server on the planet.
Then, with all else in flaming ruin, delete his ban. The ****er! (view post) |

INCIT Meta-moderationFran Posted:
Turns out this is exactly the model Slashdot (http://slashdot.org) uses to self-police its article discussion system. They’ve also implemented a second layer of moderation (meta-moderation) to get random sampling review of upvoting/downvoting by other people who have self-policed.
I’m not suggesting the second layer of stuff, here. It’s pointless to add complexity without testing simple. (view post) |

INCIT cleanupIt’s been expressed to me that some of you, gentle readers, may not know what the goal is. Allow me to demonstrate: http://tinypaste.com/6426e wherein we can see the desired goal. This is a 30 minute INCIT Chat excerpt, wholly intact. During this time >15 players were online, there was constant submitting and voting. This was not some “would somebody PLEASE dump a 5th sub, please, please, please” time.
Clearly, this is the goal we should all be striving for. (view post) |

Persistent censorship, however, is clearly not. If we’re going to have tyranny, let’s go all the way. No need to only stand on some principles and let others breathe. Stand on all of them. (view post) |

INCIT cleanupIt occurs that rather a lot of the INCIT leaderboard would evaporate if the current, constantly changing, rules for INCIT were applied.
Resolved: That the following, currently in force, INCIT rules be applied retroactively:
and that the rules be extended further:
This seems the only fair thing to do for all concerned. (view post) |

INCIT Meta-moderationRecommend adding a link “this is spam” to each entry in INCIT. In a given round, a player can either vote for a winner or cite spam, not both. (view post) |

POLL: How long should INCIT rounds last?quangntenemy Posted:
Regarding unfunny pics, I recommend the “none of the above” vote option. Pics that are regularly “none of the above”d are clearly unfunny.
Regarding reinforcing non-dump voting, http://www.forumwarz.com/discussions/view_post/710430. It’s a little long, but I think that’s necessary to cover the problem. (view post) |

Why is Fie banned?Jalapeno Bootyhole Posted:
Scale votes by the history of prior winning votes. I.e., people who routinely vote for winners have bigger votes than people who routinely vote for losers. This is vaguely similar to the Google PageRank algorithm — pages that largely link to relevant pages are strong indicators of relevance. A result in voting is then the sum of the weights of the names who voted for a submission.
A user who dumpvotes is then reducing their ability to reinforce spamming behaviour. It’s less draconian than banning a dumpvoter, but asymptotically reduces their ability to distort the outcome to whatever “good decision rate” they establish. It establishes a new equilibrium point in the game/meta-game combination where voting for winners is an improved long-term strategy than the current game/meta-game combo.

Solution to the whole INCIT/Protivate problem.ChilePepino Posted:
While I understand the point you’re trying to make, even the Apple mods haven’t been able to establish the shining vision you’re referring to. See, for instance, http://www.itpro.co.uk/blogs/nicolek/2009/04/24/10-worst-iphone-apps/. ... and this is just a sample. There are plenty of apps that are qualitatively similar to the level of discourse usually entertained at INCIT and its Chat.
It seems, though, that the moderating has gone to eleven. The number of actually posting players seems down and the Chat is silent. In spite of this, WWWW and gibberish posts are winning. So, it’s just possible that the overwhelming clampdown is not working. It’s not clear that it could ever work and be compatible with the pre-existing culture.
Now, ..., a Protivate app that had been marketed at FwZ players, who would have known what they were getting into?... That might have been a much better idea. (view post) |

Forumwarz Circle Jerk ThreadFie, My friend Zonbei, who is sitting next to me right now and is definitely not me, would like to be unbanned. He also would like … Oh, wait he just left the room. Huh. So…, what’s the ForumWarz thing he’s always talking… He’s back. He would also like to say “banana farts” and point at … And he’s gone again… Anyway, what’s this ForumWarz thing he’s always talking about, he makes it sound like it’s run by a bunch of fascist retards and that… He’s back. Apparently he would like you all to play his new game… Gone. Back. Gone. Back. GoneBack. ... his new game the Life of Zongay. He says it’s episode two of the life of Zonbei, a.k.a. Gayleb. Gone. Back. Oh, “Caleb”. Right. So that’s what my friend (Gone.) who is Zonbei (Back.) and definitely not (Gone.) me wanted to say (Back.) and also could I (Gone.) Er, wait… Um, HE be (Back.) un-(Gone.)-ban-(Back.)-ned?

Respawning threads and hydraI’ve been thinking about a feasible way to add respawning threads to in-game fora, that
For plain respawners, the idea is that such a thread
For example, a respawn thread that happens to be worth 100 cred at this instant, granting 80%/kill will grant 80 cred. If it respawns, it will grant 80% of the remaining cred (80% of 100-80=20 = 16 cred) and so on.
Hydra are similar except that pwned hydra create more than one thread when they respawn (and need not all respawn at the same time) with a similar cred pro-rating scheme for the respawned copies.
This would also lead to the opportunity for additional forms of spiders:
and abilities:
I know this idea isn’t adequately fleshed out for implementing. Currently, I’m looking for first pbumes of “this is obviously broken in manner X”. See any obvious flaws? (view post) |
