Have you looked at the Town Rankings at the start of season 1? There were quite some 100+ SP towns that lasted two days. And I think it is because most of these people in those crappy towns were builders in previous towns. And it’s easy to survive as a builder because:

a) You only have to drink once every two days

b) You don’t risk getting stuck in the world beyond

This is also why I asked you and Nillo to wait for a town that has a bunch of heroes, like the current town we’re in, because most heroes like to scavenge/plan expeditions instead of sitting in the town building until the town goes to hell.
