Ah yes, for I am a wise and fair chairman. One did come to me crying, “Alas, I am but persecuted m’lord. I have accrued five complaints against me, yet I knowest not why!”

And another came forth saying, “M’lord, this one has built a hovel upon the first day. Let us shun him for he has encroached upon the welfare of our township!”

Thus I did answer he that did build a hovel upon the first day, “Thou hast broken the unwritten law of the land and shall surely be shunned. Tis a grave lesson ye have learned, friend.”

And the hovel-builder did fall upon my feet crying once more “I did not know m’lord! Forgive my impudence! Have but mercy upon my wretched soul I beg thee — I seek only to do good!”

But the people did gather in great numbers and sought no mercy upon him “Shun the hovel-builder!” said they, “We care not for his empty words; let him answer for his actions!”

Thus I heard the words of the people and spoke unto them saying “Let not this man be shunned, but let him have the redemption he so seeks. Tis unfitting we should sacrifice many a days work for one plank’s loss — shan’t we not see the plank residing within our own eyes! Retract thy complaints for his offense and grant this earnest soul your amnesty.”

And it was so.
