Right from the moment when I saw Saw, I laughed.

In fairness, with the rise of media conglomeration has also come the dramatic dispersal of the internet, where suddenly practically anyone can immediately and efficiently generate a product that can the consumed by nearly anyone worldwide.

Also regarding the death of net neutrality, it’s still being fought.

I think I will now read Marshall Macluhan’s work for myself. Otherwise I have little interest in what was likely a small joke dumped in a coca-cola ad by a bored designer.

Edit: Here is a link to the wiki page on Macluhan, who is frequently cited by the article you reference there and is (imo) worth a great deal more time than fundamentally silly (though tempting) conspiracy theories.

You think it’s a conspiracy theory the media conditions you to buy more and give up your money easier? You really don’t give the people in marketing much credit. If I was in marketing that’s exactly what I’d be doing.

It’s no conspiracy theory. “Conspiracy Theory” in itself is the biggest load of conditioning. Theory unapproved by corporate media = conspiracy theory = Everyone shown in our movies and TV shows and commercials with such theories should appear eccentric and delusional to invoke that image to the public.

I mean, yeah, you can go, “I don’t care aren’t I so ironic”, maybe some of you really believe that, maybe some of you don’t. The irony I see is many of you mock people of religion for being stupid and impressionable (as well you should) when you are just as easily influenced. And in the same way as religion some of you will never get it, you’ve just been spoon fed that **** for so long there is no appeal to reasoning.

It’s not about some evil elite trying to control you. That is a red herring and an exaggeration of the truth, to make the truth seem implausible. It’s just about money. They want your money. All of it. And they want you to get as little as possible in return. They have no moral guidelines. That’s business. They will skull **** your brains to jello, because people who have their brains skull****ed to jello buy more.
