The problem I’m immediately seeing here is that this would punish anyone with a sense of humour that differs from the other people in the room – they see the choices, genuinely pick the one they find funniest, and lose voting power because no-one else agrees with them.

Whenever I play INCIT it seems like the ones I find least funny are getting the most votes. Maybe there’s dumpvoting at work here, but I suspect people just find things funny that I think are ****. Increasing your vote’s weight by how often you agree with others is just an incentive to vote along predictable lines – try to guess what everyone else will vote for and jump on the wagon, instead of voting for what you actually find funny.

That said, I don’t have a better suggestion. There’s really no way to force people to vote honestly for what they find funniest – so long as there’s rewards attached there will be ways to game the system (including the system you described – for example, get a small group together and all vote the same way to make that sub win, having voted for the winner the weight of the group’s votes increases and it only becomes easier to control the outcome, and hence increase your voting weight further)
